Bethesda Softworks has announced a new title, Wolfenstein: The New Order, an action-adventure shooter slated to hit the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and next-gen consoles in time for the holidays later this year.

The game is being developed by MachineGames, a Sweden-based studio that was founded by the same people that started up Starbreeze Studios – the developers responsible for the critically acclaimed Chronicles of Riddick.

"We are excited to bring a new chapter of Wolfenstein to gamers everywhere," said Jens Matthies, creative director at MachineGames. "As fans of the series, working on this game is an honor, and our team is driven to create an unforgettable action-adventure experience that will make FPS fans proud."

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a reimagining of the franchise. How, or if, it will have any tie-ins to 2009's "Wolfenstein" remains to be seen. What we DO know is that the title is being developed using the iD Tech 5 engine, the same engine that was used for RAGE and the currently under development Doom 4.

ComicBookMovie.com and Best Little Sites was the brainchild of Nate and a friend way back in 2002. Nate initially focused on the back-end programming and front-end design, but now manages the company and its associated sites as well, with a LOT of help from some very talented contributors.

Nate has loved comics from a very young age and continues to read them on a regular basis thanks to subscriptions to various titles (both Marvel and DC). He also loves movies, as his wife and children will attest. He's not overly critical of movies, so his reviews should be taken with a grain of salt as he's much more interested in being entertained and escaping the "real" world for a couple of hours than finding every conceivable plot-hole and character flaw in a film.

Outside of his guilty "nerdy" pleasures, Nate enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys, CrossFit, playing guitar, coaching youth sports and MMA (he spent a couple of years in the cage as an NHB fighter, but is now MUCH too old).

Just hope it's better than Wolfenstein. I'm not the "omg original is always best" kind of people, but you should know you're doing something WRONG when people like a 16-bit proto-FPS game like Wolf 3D instead of it's "ground breaking 3d re-imagining." Ugh.

I am glad the original makers of the Xbox 1 Chronicles of Riddick are working on it, but I am so sick of pre-rendered CGI trailers especially with the hardware around today.

I'm not one to stir the crap, so to speak, but I think it would be awesome to see a game like this go full-bore and unleash all of the Nazi science-horror stuff. I'm talking robo-Hitler, evil experiments, Satanism, the whole nine-yards. But, this game looks promising from the trailer.
Still, this is just the intro trailer. We should still be holding our breaths

Ahhhhh....finally. Brings back memories. Return to Castle Wolfenstein was a damn good game(at least to me). It has been one of not too many FPS games to have me completely hooked throughout, and I've played a LOT of shooters. Hope this one lives up to the name.

@monkeyballs @ckal

Guys, I removed your comment(s) after I provided a *working* hyperlink to the official video posted by Bethesda (it's like the 6th comment down). I also put the link at the bottom of the write-up.

Take a chill pill.
