"X-Men Origins: Xavier and Magnus"... is what it should be.

Rumors are abound about prospective origin films for a few more X-verse characters pending the box-office haul of Wolverine. One is the possibility of a Magneto origin. Some may agree that doesn't sound very exciting. Adding Xavier's origin would add a great deal of action and interest.
Like I said in the introduction, Magneto doesn't really need a solo origin movie. When you examine his origin, there isn't much there and very few characters to work with. Don't get me wrong, he is a very interesting and powerful personality, he just doesn't warrant a solo endeavor. Xavier, however, would be a great story. Now, combine the two and show how they intertwine and become friends while showing their individual experiences... I'd love to see it. I know, I know, whats so exciting about these two old men, right. Lets find out.

We all know how radically powerful these to characters are. Quite honestly, they are Gods in mortal form within the Marvel Universe. Xavier is commonly known as the most powerful mind on the planet while Magneto is the undisputed 'Master of Magnetism', so I'm sure I can spare us all the analysis of their powers. While many of you probably know that Magneto spent a portion of his youth in Auschwitz, you may not have known that many more events helped push him down his path. What do we know about Xavier in his youth? There is much there and to see him struggling with his sense of morality and application of his powers is a story in itself.

While Magneto, whose real name was Max Eisenhardt, was imprisoned in Auschwitz, he met a girl named Magda with whom he escaped during a riot in the death camp he was in. He had a daughter with her named Anya. One day, his daughter is killed in a fire while a mob prevents him from saving her. This is when his powers first manifest and he destroys much of the village. Magda then flee's from him after seeing what he's done, while Magneto himself is being hunted for what he did. This is when he receives the commonly known 'Erik Lehnsher' identity. He takes his new identity and heads to Israel, where he works in a Holocaust victims hospital and soon meets Charles Xavier...

With Xavier's beginnings, the story becomes much more interesting. Xavier's father died while he was very young and his mother married Kurt Marko, a colleague of his fathers. Charles powers manifested very early in his life and he struggled greatly to keep it secret. His stepbrother, Cain, knew what he was though, as Charles would often probe Cain's mind, which Cain could feel. This made Cain take every opportunity he could to physically beat Charles. Kurt Marko, however, would return those beatings to Cain while pampering Charles, which only made Cain angrier. Why was Kurt so nice to Charles? I'll tell you later. Charles eventually finds out, through application of his powers, that Kurt only married his mother for the money to continue his research. Not long after, Charles mother dies and he is left in Kurt's custody. The next fight between Cain and Charles causes Kurt lab equipment to explode and Kurt dies saving the two boys. This is where the traveling starts for Xavier. He attends several schools like Harvard and Oxford attaining carious degrees and doctorates. At Oxford, he meets a woman named Moira Kinross(later to be Moira MacTaggart) who becomes his college sweetheart. After he graduates Oxford he is drafted into the Army and sent to Korea. This is where Cain attains the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak. Charles also receives a 'Dear John' letter from Moira who has begun seeing a professor of hers... Depressed, Charles begins to travel the world after leaving the army, when he ends up in Cairo, Egypt. A young girl attempts to pickpocket him. He telepathy allows him to catch her and he realizes she is forced to steal by a man named Amahl Farruk, a local crime lord. When Xavier confronts the man, he meets the first 'Evil Mutant' in his life. The man is actually being possessed by a mutant named Shadow King. Xavier battle's him on the Astral plane and manages to win, banishing the mutant into the Astral plane and saving the very young Ororoe Munroe. This is also where he realizes his calling in life. Now, he makes his way to Israel where he meets Magneto and the two work together and become great friends.

Now that destiny has brought these two powers together, it can't be long before something goes wrong, right. Xavier uses his powers to bring a woman named Gabrielle Haller out of a catatonic state brought on by her experiences in the Holocaust. The 2 fall in love, and Charles, Gabrielle, and Erik are inseperable for a while. During this time, Xavier and Magneto engage in many debates of the possible existence of mutants, neither suspecting the other to be a mutant(Charles has by now developed a strict rule of never entering a mind without permission). Eventually, an old Nazi commander named Baron von Strucker comes for Gabrielle, as she knows the location of a Nazi gold cache. He takes all three of them, and upon finding the cache, Charles and Erik reveal who they are to each other for the first time. While Magneto is intent on killing the Nazi's, Charles stops him, and this is the climactic split between the two. Magneto takes the gold and leaves to pursue his vision of mutant freedom, while Charles leaves for his. When Charles leaves, he doesn't know that Gabrielle is pregnant with their son David... more popularly known as Legion. Xavier soon encounters an alien named Lucifer in Tibet, who Charles finds out is a scout for a larger invasion party. Charles foils his plans to be paralyzed by Lucifer in retribution. While Charles lay trapped with a shattered spine, his telepathic distress calls attract a young mutant named Tessa to help him. Tessa, who later becomes Sage, brings Xavier to a hospital where he is nursed back to health by another mutant named Amelia Voight. The two fall in Love and move back to America together to live in Xavier's family mansion.Amelia becomes disturbed by Charles mutant research, as she is a mutant, but calms down when she realizes he to is a mutant. He tells her of his goals for mutants and his plans to help them, but she is skeptical. She leaves Charles When he recruits his first official X-Man, Scott Summers.

When Magneto parted with Xavier, he to went to work finding and recruiting mutants to his cause. He found the mutant twins, Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, not knowing they were his children. Additionally, the mutants Mortimer Toinbee and Jason Wyngarde joined his cause, known as Toad and Mastermind, forming the first Brotherhood of Mutants.

Maybe you've noticed a few situations I've alluded to but not explained fully. The research Kurt Marko was performing were remnants of the "Black Womb" project. A project in which 5 scientists worked to research the mutant genome. Who were the 5 scientists? Brian Xavier(Charles father of course), Kurt Marko, Jacob Shaw(father of Sebastian and Shinobi Shaw), Irene Adler(later known as the mutant Destiny), and Nathan Milsbury. Dr. Milsbury isn't who they all thought he was though. It was in fact, Mr. Sinister. He even introduced the mutant gene to Shaw's bloodline. Who was the Oxford professor that got between Charles and Moira? Sinister again. And just a bit of info, Sinister was doing research on human and mutant genes in Auschwitz, which, after the Nazi defeat, Sinister's journal was discovered by the future creator of the Weapon-X program. Sinister's grubby little paws are in everything aren't they.

In all, a movie adaptation of the combined origins would have a lot to say and offer us as comic fans. There are other parts of Xaviers past especially, such as the fact that Sage is actually one of the original X-Men, but Xavier thought her better suited as a spy and planted her in the Hellfire Club. She had been in that position since Cyclops moved into the mansion. The fact that Xavier knew about mutants like Nightcrawler and Colossus, but chose the one's he did for the original team because they were all American and their mutations weren't frightening to the public, which is what he wanted, to show mutants were nice people too, lol. And then there are the darker aspects of Xavier, but we can get into that later. I hope you enjoyed this enlightenment. Maybe a Magneto origin wouldn't sell, but I know I can get behind a Magneto/Xavier origin movie.

OH MY GOD once again i bow before you myth this was an awesome article and i would be 150% behind this movie if they made it. you did awesome research and hell marvel or fox or whatever studio would do a magneto movie needs you to be their writer amazing [frick]ing amazing!!!
dogchasingcars - 4/12/2009, 8:27 PM
you know what i think. i say [frick] the studios and all that shit. all of us need to get together and just bust out like some low budget movie that actually will give tribute to the characters and not just make up some lame ass movie for money. we can get around the copy right shit by not selling the movie but just posting it as a free thing for those of us that have been let down by fox and everyone else who wants to put their own spin on our heroes. how can u change something that has been around since i was born? u dont see me trying to change history so dont [frick] with what is fine
HUSoldier - 4/12/2009, 8:47 PM
Amazing! I knew alot of it, except for the bits like Sinister being with Moira. And I also didnot know about daddy Shaw working with Marko and Xavier. Bravo Myth. I'm glad my fiancee doesn't know you. She is a huge X fan, except for X-Static.
THEHAWK - 4/12/2009, 8:56 PM
Wow... I must say, you completely changed my mind. That story would be amazing... plus allowing some characters to jump to the big screen that would be some great conceptions (Shadow King and the Astral Plane, that would be unbelievable).
Plus I love the idea of sneaking characters in the movies when they are nothing or nobodies. Its a great feeling of whats to come.
But (and there is always a but), as long as the studios are in charge, they will focus on the general audience. I mean look at Watchmen. It was by far the closest adaption to date (IMO of course), and most of the people I talked to that havent read the novel where lost in the story. So if the story isnt cut and dry, then it wont sell at the box office (hence again, the Watchmen). And as long sa big dollar drives the studios we are going to have more upsets. To give an example, I watched the movie Constantine having never read Hellblazer. When I finished the movie I was so fascinated that I was going to start reading the novel. To find out that the movie was nowhere close to the "actual" story. The novel was deep, thought provaking, and dark. Everything the movie wasnt. Both were great in there own rights, but if they were to make a movie closer to the novel like Watchmen, then I feel the "general audience" would be left with another sour taste. Which is the true shame.
But Hey... Im sold. [frick] the general audience. There is enough shitastic crap in hollywood making a lot less money. Ill take a shitty comicbook movie over no comicbook movie. Most have sucked, but i will stop on every single one when i see it, and even on lazy days throwing in an old crap-tastic FF or DD. I love them bastards that much.

So Red team go...

THEHAWK: More specifically, "Black Womb" real purpose, orchestrated by Sinister of course, was to create a new clone suitable to transfer his Psyche into. Sebastian Shaw, Cain Marko, a man named Carter Ryking, and Charles Xavier himself were all body's Sinister was considering using at the time.

Events like this are the evidence that Sinister truly is one of the most deadly and cunning villains in the Marvel Universe. And if they take advantage of this type of Xavier/Magneto origin story to elaborate Sinister without fully revealing him, it would be good. I honestly feel this is an origin film worth making.

@Justadjust: I'd been putting this article together for a while, but it was your post the other day in another article that pushed me to complete it. I figured if YOU couldn't see why they should do it, I had some work to do, lol.
TheMyth - 4/12/2009, 9:48 PM
They really need to put Sinister on film, he would be so awesome. He really is the X-Men's biggest enemy. Sure when Apocalypse shows up everthing hits the fan. But Sinister is a constant threat, he is always lurking and plotting, so he is a constant concern.
THEHAWK - 4/12/2009, 10:51 PM
@dogchasingcars: You flatter me. Some of it I had to dive back into to remember or confrim things in my memory, but most of it is due to a lifelong love and accumulation of knowledge in regards to the X-verse. I'm just so damn glad I can finally apply it!!!

@THEHAWK: I'm glad you agree with me. So many of my friends just don't see the threat he poses and mistakenly think the villains who employ brute-force so whimsically are the baddest of the bad. Sinister is a whole new level of [frick]ing evil perfection!

I can't wait for Shaman to get to work tomorrow lol. Yes Shaman, saddle up your moose or whatever and take your broke ass to Best-Buy, or whatever canuck-buy-in-bulk place you newfie's have up there and get a cheapass home computer with a dial-up. I think if Shaman had that going for him, we'd have a lot more cool shit to read. Shaman, you know I'm just poking at you buddy.
TheMyth - 4/12/2009, 11:11 PM
very good idea sir
joslezio85 - 4/13/2009, 1:53 AM
all sounds good to me
yeti588 - 4/13/2009, 2:45 AM
what a great idea! it would be perfect to introduce Scarlet WItch (Megan Fox) and Quicksilver (James Marsters) setting them up for a future Avengers film as well!
joshw24 - 4/13/2009, 6:30 AM
@TheMyth - Well I'm glad to help get your creative "fluids" going. I really think you have something here. And not seeing Christian Clark still leaves hope that could be the saving grace of the x-men franchise. I just dont want to see Magneto as a villian anymore. And this is by far the best way to introduce a new "super" villian.

@HUSoldier - I couldnt agree with you more. Maybe infiltrating the studios would be a better bet. Sometimes you have to slap some bitches around for them to get the picture.

Justadjust - 4/13/2009, 9:19 AM
Bravo Myth. I have been dying to see a film version of Magneto/Xavier for quite a while. I actually think that the proposed X-Men Origins: Magneto will feature Xavier much more prominently than the title suggests; however, there is no chance we will get a film any where close to the magnitude of the comic story-line.

@joshw24: The rights to the X-films are owned by FOX; the rights to The Avengers are owned by Marvel. There will not be a cross-over of the 2 franchises in the currenrt film continuities.
071808 - 4/13/2009, 3:03 PM
I'm pretty sure that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are actually part of the X-Men property Fox owns. I say this because Quicksilver is one of the young mutants in the Weapon-X labs in Wolverine movie. He has no lines, but you can clearly tell that's who it is.

@Justadjust: I just read a new article on this site about how Hood says there are plenty more Easter-eggs in the finished movie that weren't in the leaked film. I'm still holding out that Sinister will be there.
TheMyth - 4/13/2009, 3:28 PM
I forgot that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are part of the X-Men franchise! Its a pity, I would have liked to have seen them in the Avengers!!!
joshw24 - 4/13/2009, 3:38 PM
@TheMyth - You just cant help it can you. You know you were just itching to stick another spoiler in there. You like a kid with a little surprise, your gonna explode if you dont tell somebody... LOL. I'm just messin with ya... I'd be the same way (hence why im waiting). Plus I think my wife is tired of hearing me talk about it.

And yes i did see that. But I have a feeling that that was pre-leak, but i'm not sure. The reason I say that is he didnt say it would be more than what was already there. Hell he might not even know that that part leaked. Though in the x-men tv spots with Sabertooth, I seen a quick peak of him looking or talking to a guy in a lab coat... dundundun. But like I said, I havent seen the movie and I'm just speculating.

Oh and by the way... I read your post on the Johnny Quest thread about you liking Sponge Bob... Thats like bonin a fat chick, yeah its fun, but dont let your friends catch ya!! HAHAHA

No but seriously, sometimes its hard to decipher whats new and old on this site, cause things keep getting recycled. Its like when people post, they are too lazy to read the other posts, so you get 10-15 people saying the same shit.
Justadjust - 4/13/2009, 4:06 PM
5 stars MAN! FIVE! FLIPPIN! STARS!!!
TheSoulEater - 4/13/2009, 6:37 PM
Nice post. We as fans know what we want to see on film. Why do the studio execs have to interfere in shit they don't know or even care about?
hewilldefytheirgravity - 4/13/2009, 9:55 PM
I think they show'd all they needed to concerning Eric's history at the start of X1. As for Xavier, theyve already screwed much of that in X3 with the Juggernaut "he's my brother but we dont regognise eachother" issue
iNsaneMilesy - 4/13/2009, 10:27 PM
The way I look at it. Is pretty much what Myth here just said. Show both their experiences. Go back and forth between the two. Showing different things happening. Than, have them meet each other, and tell the story from there. Bravo Myth. You are amazing.
joslezio85 - 4/14/2009, 1:36 AM
Nice one Myth! it would totally blow Goyer out of the water!!!!
Shaman - 4/14/2009, 7:44 AM
@insanemilesy - Its funny that you say that, though i disagree about the potential story the Xavier/Magneto could have (thanks to Myth), but I do agree with you about Juggernaut. It seems that the studios back themselves into corners with these characters. Its almost like they are missing the ability to write these stories with potential of expanding. Which is very contradicting because, with these movies (more so now than before), they are already looking into the next installment before the movie even hits print and in some cases before post-production is completed.
This is how I see there converstions going:

Studio Exec #1 - Hey, this movie is going to take off and make A LOT of money. We need to write the sequel.

Exec2 - But we wrote in dead-ends.

Exec1 - Oh yeah, well screw the source material. We will write our own story.

Exec2 - But then no one will see it. It will be unrecognizable.

Exec1 - So what. If we dumb it done, make it PG13, and sell it to the general audience, we will still make money hand over fist.

Exec2 - Works for me. Now if youll excuse me, I have to take a shit and wipe my ass with hundred dollar bills.

The worst part is I can understand changes. Hell, its a 2 1/2 hour movie. But in every change I see, I also see a better way of doing it without compromising the source material. There is a lot of half assing in hollywood right now. But at the same time, you try to stay true (like Zack and Watchmen), and then the studios go "Thats great and all... but I cant afford my yaucht on a good story. Where's the money?"

Shame, Shame, Shame
Justadjust - 4/14/2009, 10:48 AM
MAN!!!! I loved this whole article and all the other articles you write bro. Other studios should take up dogchasingcars' idea and hire you as a [frick]ing writer. I would definitly pay to watch this movie in theatres and i would see it the first day it comes out. Good Job Myth. Dont stop what you do bro.

Peace
chris915 - 4/14/2009, 7:58 PM
LMAO!! justadjust that shit was too funny!! That is probably the exact way the studios talk it over LoL!

Peace
chris915 - 4/14/2009, 8:02 PM
@chris915 - I know right...

There should be a sign on every exec back pointing at there ass that says
"Warning!! you have located the brain. Do not disturb it, for it is under severe pressure."

That would explain the massive amount of retardation.
(no offence to the retarded, slow)
Justadjust - 4/14/2009, 8:16 PM
Yeh but how hard was it for them to have Xavier pause for the breifest of moment when he was being wheeled past Juggy, and mearly say "... Cain" then keep going?
iNsaneMilesy - 4/15/2009, 1:12 AM
@iNsaneMilesy: Holy shit you just gave me a revelation. Now hear me out... Remember the scene when Xavier arrives at Jeans house with Wolvie and Storm, of course you do. Remember that Juggy's helmet is off... meaning he has no protection from psychic invasion. Now, Xavier already having enough on his plate, with Jean of course then the added threat of Magneto, which we could say he sensed psychically before his arrival, so Xavier pulls a psychic whammy on Juggy. Cheasy it may be, but I'm doin' my best with Brent Ratners crap.

If I got to write any amount of X-Men films, I would make a second trilogy that follows after the events of X3. Also, I like the First Class prequel idea and the Xavier/Magneto origin, so I'd want a crack at those too. If I could do anything in movies, I would devote my career to the X-Men franchise. Head in the clouds, I know, but whats wrong with lying to yourself a lil' bit. lol.

joslezio85 - 4/15/2009, 7:09 PM
@The Myth: Glad I was of some use to you. Well series has set itself up to continue on. I wouldn't say no to another trilogy.
iNsaneMilesy - 4/17/2009, 1:51 AM
I've always wanted to see the real, original Brotherhood in action. I think it would be even cooler to extend the story from where you left off Myth, and see an epic Brotherhood (Pietro, Mortimer, Jason, and Wanda) vs Xavier's first class (Scott, Jean, Bobby, Hank, and Warren) fight. That could also lead into a First Class movie, ya know? That way we've already got the original team together, seen them fight a little bit, and then have the First Class movie show a bit of origin. But more than anything, I want to see Pietro whoop some X-men asss.
pietro - 4/17/2009, 2:25 PM
For the sake of it being an origin film based on Xavier and Magneto, I would like to show the both of them making their first recruits. In keeping with the movie continuity, we should actually have Magneto and Xavier form the original X-Men together, creating a team of about 10 members, then the X/Magnus split results in some of the children following Magneto and forming the first, and original Brotherhood.
