Production on John Wick Chapter 4 is scheduled to get underway very soon, and we now have word on an exciting (possible) new addition to the cast.
According to The Illuminerdi, Wesley Snipes (Demolition Man, New Jack City) is currently in negotiations with Lionsgate to board the project in an unnamed supporting role. Details on the character he'd play are scarce, but he's said to be a swordsman. Whether he'll be an ally or enemy of Mr. Wick's is unclear.
Of course, Snipes is best-known for playing katana-wielding vampire hunter Blade, so he should be right at home swinging a sword.
If Snipes does sign on to appear, he'll join Keanu Reeves as the seemingly un-killable badass of the title, Bill Skarsgård (It Chapter 2), Shamier Anderson (Stowaway), pop star Rina Sawayama, and the legendary Donnie Yen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) as an old friend of Wick’s “who shares his same history and many of the same enemies.”
Chad Stahelski will direct from a screenplay by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch. Filming is expected to commence later this month/early July in France, Germany, and Japan. John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on May 27, 2022.
UPDATE: Well, doesn't look like this one was meant to be...
