Who would have guessed that fourteen years later, we'd be looking at the fifth installment in the
Underworld franchise? But these films are proving to be profitable much in the same way that the
Resident Evil film series (another Screen Gems franchise) squeezes a dollar so here we are.
But does
Blood Wars mark an end in the cinematic battle between vampires and werewolves or could Kate Beckinsale's Selene return for a sixth and seventh installment? Or, if Screen Gems does continue, will their lead actress be back? Beckinsale states, "
The thing is, we've always gone on a case by case basis. [Only] if there's an audience for it, [because] we don't need to just keep throwing things out there. I've never been attached to [the role] before the concept has come up. It really depends on whether's there's another place to go."
