A new trailer for The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard has finally arrived, and the sequel looks like an absolute blast. Its 2017 predecessor, The Hitman's Bodyguard, exceeded expectations at the box office with $180 million worldwide, spawning a new franchise for Lionsgate in the process.
The twist this time is that bodyguard Michael Bryce will have to protect both hitman Darius Kincaid and his wife Sonia (in case it wasn't already obvious from the title). Throw in a couple of major A-List cast additions in Antonio Banderas and Morgan Freeman, and we're definitely excited to check this out.
They're all spotlighted on a poster for the movie, and we also have a fun new trailer offering a much better idea of what to expect. If this is any indication, it's going to be an action-packed, bloody, globe-trotting adventure that builds on what we saw in the first instalment.
"The world’s most lethal odd couple – bodyguard Michael Bryce and hitman Darius Kincaid – are back on another life-threatening mission," reads the synopsis. "Still unlicensed and under scrutiny, Bryce is forced into action by Darius’s even more volatile wife, the infamous international con artist Sonia Kincaid. As Bryce is driven over the edge by his two most dangerous protectees, the trio get in over their heads in a global plot and soon find that they are all that stand between Europe and a vengeful madman. Joining in the fun and mayhem is Morgan Freeman...well, you’ll have to see."
The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard is set to be released in U.S. theaters on June 16th, with a UK release now confirmed for Monday, June 21st. Check out the awesome new trailer and poster below:
