Brie Larson And Jeremy Renner Address Potential MCU Returns In AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY And SECRET WARS

Though one was a little more forthcoming than the other, both Jeremy Renner and Brie Larson have both weighed-in on their potential returns to the MCU for Avengers: Doomsday...

The massive Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal featured several expected returnees, a number of names that had previously been rumored, and quite a few surprises. A lot of MCU actors were absent, however, including OG Earth's Mightiest Hero Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), and The Marvels star Brie Larson.

It's highly likely that both of these actors will be back (if not for Doomsday, then surely Secret Wars), but we won't know for certain until we get that second announcement.

There was a bigger question mark over Renner while he was recovering from his near-fatal 2023 snowplough accident, but he has since returned to work, and it sounds like he is more than ready to bring Clint Barton out of retirement... again.

“I think he started retired… but he’s always pulled out of retirement, you know," The Mayor of Kingstown star tells ComicBoook.com"I think he’s a family man; you always know where his allegiance lies, and he’s always come out of retirement, man. Until he’s killed, he’s always gonna be working.”

Not exactly confirmation, but he did give us a little more to go on than Larson.

Marvel Studios is said to be keeping (or attempting to keep) certain actors/characters under wraps until audiences are sitting down to watch these movies, but we assume that Renner and Larson will be confirmed before then.

Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars were recently hit with significant delays, with Doomsday now set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars positioned for December 17, 2027.

Both movies will be directed by the Russo brothers, who also make their MCU return after helming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame

"Being able to create stories and explore characters within the Marvel Universe fulfilled a life-long dream of ours, and we discovered a powerful connection with audiences in each film that we made. We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with Kevin, Lou and the entire Marvel team to bring this epic adventure in storytelling to new and surprising places for both the fans and ourselves”, said The Russos in a statement after the SDCC panel.

I mean at this point , I get it’s their job but why do these reporters even ask if actors may be back to reprise their characters in franchise films because either they don’t know or can’t say so seems like a waste of time imo.

Anyway , i enjoy Brie’s Carol and I like Renner’s Clint so I would be down to see both again when/if possible!!.

When exactly does Larson's contract run out??? The MCU is better with CAPTAIN MARVEL in it but doesn't need Larson to be the actress portraying the character. 🤨

I may be in the minority, but Captain Marvel is one of the new heroes that I really want to see on these big events, specially as an active Avenger member, and working with the whole team from beggining to end.

I just want to see all Avengers together, man, you know? Strange, Hulk, Hawkeye, Carol, Thor, Antman, Shangchi, and all the gang. thats the exciting thing about team movies, imo.

same as the X-Men. I'll never understand those fans that just want many important members left out (on any team) Give me everyone together!

@gambgel - Yup, I mean in the comics the team side of things was always where the character shone brightest, I get the issues folks had with her films but still a great character with a great actor who could work REALY well within a team even if there isn't enough love for her as a solo character.

I miss the fan theory articles. They have more relevance than a bunch of meaningless "potential" "assumed" "reportedly" "rumordly" or whatever adverb they want to use lmao ahhhhhh

Here's my take on this. Captain Marvel, yes, is an important character to have in the films, and Brie Larson is a beautiful actress. Just wish she would get her long hair back. But her politics and general behavior have alienated a lot of people and fans. If she would just get her head screwed on straight, well,,,,,,,,, but I just don't know that's gonna happen.

@grif - ikr.... living proof one actor can take down an entire studio. I should do a line graph for the disbelievers.. Marvel climbs---introduces Brie Larsen as Capt. Marvel... steady decline then the cliff.
