All The CBM Trailers Rumored To Be Coming In December... And When You Might See Them
Rumours continue to swirl about trailers which are supposedly set to be released in December, including some big Marvel and DC Comics properties. Now, we break down everything that we've heard is coming!
There was a time when trailers would be released and, well, we'd all be glad to see them. In recent times, however, the anticipation surrounding these sneak peeks has been taken to another level and we've reached a point where some fans are turning against the studios releasing them because they're not doing so on the schedule they want!
Over the past few weeks, the excitement surrounding the debuts of a number of specific trailers in December has reached a manic level, with constant rumours doing the rounds and speculation running rampant as a result.
It's important to remember that nothing is official until the studio says so and it doesn't matter how many reliable sources weigh in beforehand; the studios will release these things when they're good and ready. With that in mind, what you'll find below is an in-depth look at all the rumours and when we actually expect to see these trailers arrive.
To take a look, all you guys have to do is click on the "View List" button down below.
Avengers 4
This is the big one, isn't it? For weeks now, we've heard rumoured dates for when this trailer is supposed to arrive and after numerous delays and apparent changes made by Disney, we're still no closer to getting a first look at Avengers 4.
However, with a number of reliable sources promising that this is going to be a heck of a week for Marvel fans and a couple of outlets promising that it will be with us TOMORROW, we'll know soon enough whether or not this is really happening. Seeing as all we've had this week is a Captain Marvel trailer and a rumour about Shang-Chi, there has to be more on the way, right?
Whatever happens tomorrow, it's hard to imagine Marvel dropping the trailer without some sort of tease beforehand and common sense says that it's got to be with us by Christmas. On the other hand, perhaps they'll keep us waiting until March because they can promote the sequel to the biggest superhero movie of all-time however they se fit.
Spider-Man: Far From Home
Talking of Marvel, we've also heard that the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home will be with us on Saturday to coincide with a Sony Pictures panel at the Brazil Comic-Con.
Considering the fact the first Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer was released around this time in 2016, the timing certainly makes sense but would Sony really release this sneak peek just one day after Avengers 4? That doesn't seem like a smart move for either movie and CCXP isn't exactly the San Diego Comic-Con, so this does seem like a rather suspect place to premiere it!
Despite that, enough reliable sources have said it's coming for us to be at least fairly confident that we might get a preview of some sort this weekend. The biggest question is whether or not it will be exclusive for those at the event with an online drop next week ready for Into the Spider-Verse.
Shazam!
We've already got a new Shazam! poster at CCXP, so a trailer doesn't seem like a stretch at all. An unexpected first look at the DC Comics adaptation came our way back in July and while I think it's feasible that something will indeed be shown at this event, I could easily imagine Warner Bros. holding off until next week (or the week after) for an online drop.
Why? Well, Aquaman is on its way to theaters and pairing a Shazam! trailer with that is just common sense and a great way to get fans and regular moviegoers alike excited about what comes next.
Reshoots have recently been taking place but I'm sure there's enough completed footage for Warner Bros. to show something off and it's hard to imagine what else this next trailer could be paired with moving into the New Year that will get it anywhere near as much attention as Aquaman.
Star Wars Episode IX
There's a little over a year to go until Star Wars Episode IX hits theaters and with so much attention on Avengers 4, it's not unfair to say that we've definitely overlooked the J.J. Abrams-helmed release.
Apparently, there is a chance that a first look at the final instalment of the Skywalker Saga is coming this month but why Disney would choose to cram it into such a busy month for trailers is hard to say. Surely, they would be better off holding off until Star Wars Celebration for a teaser and title reveal?
That's certainly plausible but Disney could also be thinking that the event would be a good place to premiere the first full-length trailer after teasing it this month. Honestly, it's hard to say for sure.
Frozen 2
Like Star Wars Episode IX, Frozen 2 is another movie rumoured to premiere its first trailer this month. Given the time of year and the fact that a family-friendly movie like Mary Poppins Returns is on the horizon, Disney sending this our way before Christmas Day rolls around seems very likely indeed.
Nothing has been confirmed, of course, but don't be surprised if that changes soon enough.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix
Dark Phoenix has been delayed to next June but now those reshoots have been (mostly) finished, surely Fox could throw something together to get fans excited after that somewhat underwhelming teaser? That's what fans are hoping and with Fox holding a panel at the Brazil Comic-Con this weekend, then we may have an answer sooner rather than later.
Unfortunately, I would imagine that while those in attendance might get to see some clips or even an unfinished trailer of some sort, that won't be released online and we may have to wait into well into 2019 for the next Dark Phoenix trailer.
We probably shouldn't expect to see anything from The New Mutants either as those reshoots still haven't taken place as far as we know and it's worth noting that the first trailer for that movie was actually shown at a previous CCXP quite some time before ultimately being released online.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Well, this is an easy slide to write! Unlike every other movie on this list, it's been officially confirmed that a trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters is coming on Sunday.
While it will premiere at the Brazil Comic-Con, we can expect it to be released online at the same time or shortly after, as it's a) about time we got another look at this one, and b) smart to pair it with Aquaman.
Square Enix's Avengers Project
The Russo Brothers are expected to be at The Game Awards tonight and while many fans are hoping they'll bring the Avengers 4 trailer with them, a number of outlets are reporting that we'll actually get a first proper look at Square Enix's highly anticipated Avengers video game.
Seeing as we know little to nothing about that, that's very exciting indeed and I wouldn't be too shocked if we get some sort of Avengers 4 tease during the event, especially if it really is coming tomorrow. Once again, we'll have to wait and see but Avengers is unlikely to be the only highly anticipated video game to drop a new trailer later this evening...
