AVENGERS 4: Does Marvel Adding This Obscure Series To ComiXology Confirm The Sequel's Title?

This is pure speculation but Marvel randomly adding an old Avengers series to ComiXology has got fans talking, especially as that may have some ties to set photos we've seen from the upcoming sequel...

As you're no doubt aware, big reveals often come from the most obscure places whether that's a trademark listing or toys. Now, Newsarama theorises that a recent addition to ComiXology may shed some light on what the Avengers: Infinity War sequel will be called: Avengers Forever. Marvel has added the 1990s series to that service and there may be evidence pointing to the two being linked.

That tale featured Earth's Mightiest Heroes assembling from across different eras to then travel throughout the timestream to stop a massive threat. With set photos pointing to time travel factoring into Avengers 4, it's easy to see why the site has put 2+2 together here, especially as claims from the Russos that it may all be "B.A.R.F." related are hard to believe when Ant-Man and Tony Stark were quite clearly seen on set interacting (rather than observing) with the Captain America from The Avengers

Assuming time travel does come into play in the Avengers: Infinity War follow-up, it would make sense for Marvel to use the Avengers Forever title as a way of both homaging whatever links it could have to this series and as a fitting tribute to the team as the current iteration concludes as Phase 3 ends.

So, nothing is confirmed but this is a solid enough theory and it definitely seems as if Earth's Mightiest Heroes will be travelling through time, especially as rumours are swirling about an older Cassie Lang showing up. This title is also much better than Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet and Avengers: Endgame

@GenreFan - I beat both of you to it. Like last year I commented how it would be stylized "avengers 4ever" and it would be the time stone instead of the time Crystal and kang the conquerer would kill thanos as a plot twist. But I'm not cool enough to be quoted or screencapped.

And I also dont know how to go back and find months old articles so I can screencap my own predictions.

Maybe. Avengers Forever was a love letter to the team's past, present and future and is an essential piece of the story of the Avengers. But this is a Wilding article so expect the answer of any question in the title to be a heavily resounding maybe cos he don't know shit

Avengers Forever is obscure?

@Spock0Clock - To be fair, although I’ve been suggesting this was a good possibility for the title of Avengers 4 for a long time now, I’d have a very hard time summing up the limited series despite buying each issue back when it first came out. While the general premise is great, Kurt Busiek really made it as convoluted as possible as he went about using the story to “fix” continuity issues. I don’t believe that I ever bothered reading it a second time, beginning to end.

But yeah, the title isn’t exactly obscure at this point.

@Chewtoy - it's the only comic arc involving time travel, captain marvel, thanos, and a reference to the number 4.

I could believe it as a title but obviously it can easily be unrelated. I don’t think any title can live up to all this secrecy. Luckily I don’t care.

Why would they be going back in time to recruit Cap when Cap's still alive?
Even if Cap was to die early in A4 it wouldn't make sense for them to go back and recruit Cap from the New york incident which is what the set photos point to

@JakeyChappers - The set photos don't actually show anything that suggests they went back specifically to recruit Cap. We all just assumed that is was a good possibility that that would be the case if he died in Infinity War like a lot of people predicted.

@JakeyChappers - He's got the same "watch" as everyone else. Perhaps he's 2018 Cap but in 2012 gear to blend in? No idea anymore

Chewtoy

@JakeyChappers - Which suggests that they could be there for the tesseract/space stone, Loki, or something to do with Thanos’s forces.

@Chewtoy - Exactly they would be manipulating time events, that could mean warning Cap about what is going to happen or ask him to help him
