AVENGERS: ENDGAME And GAME OF THRONES Win Big At The MTV Movie & TV Awards 2019

The MTV Movie and TV Awards aired last night and while they're not exactly the Academy Awards, Marvel Studios fans are bound to be happy about some of the films and names that walked away with the win...

Avengers: Endgame is the second highest-grossing movie of all time and loved by fans and critics alike, so something tells us you won't be surprised to learn that it dominated last night's MTV Movie and TV Awards. Picking up a number of big prizes, the Marvel Studios movie was a clear favourite among MTV's audience and held off competition from Captain Marvel and Shazam!.

The Brie Larson-led release did get some attention, though, while Game of Thrones was still crowned this year's best TV show despite a finale which has divided the fanbase since airing.

The MTV Movie and TV Awards are always good fun, especially as they don't take themselves too seriously and tend to reward mainstream blockbusters overlooked by the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes (many fans are convinced that Avengers: Endgame will receive some nominations next year, but best not to get your hopes up).

@azimiq - and it's bc theyre giving it points for being a feminist film or something. Which is so f%$&ing shoehorned, and takes away from actual feminism.

Just forcing it into everything is what's hurting it people.

This is why trying to capitalize on social issues is a fking class A mistake

@azimiq - Totally. WTF?!? The Cap vs Thanos fight - especially the Mjolnir wield - was the biggest jump-out-of-your-chair moment I have seen in years. GTFO with that Captain Marvel shit 🖕🏻

And also, that Umbrella Acadamy “I Think We’re Alone Now” scene just came out of so left field I was like the mean critic in Ratatouille, just instantly taken back to my childhood like a slap in the face! Had the biggest grin from ear to ear 😁 I must have replayed it 10 times.... Of course my 8 yo self didn’t grasp the rather adult nature of the lyrics at the time 👦🏼 🦜🐝 🤔😳🤭

RBG v. Inequality. But doesn’t win the award, because it’s cooler to give it to Cap Marvel.

I'm gonna upset all the Marvel loyalists, but Villainelle from Killing Eve is 10x the villain than Thanos from End Game. Sorry.

Also, both Best Performance categories are a joke. I can think of 20 different performances for each that are wat better. Hell, everyone from The Favourite was better than anything on that list

It's MTV. The network's target demographic are people who watch shows about pregnant teenagers and online dating. Why are you people surprised Captain Danvers got a nod?
