At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios announced plans to release both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars during Phase 6.
The title makes it obvious that the former will pit Earth's Mightiest Heroes against Kang the Conqueror - and his many Variants, no doubt - but what about Secret Wars? There have been two comic book events with that name; the first saw The Beyonder abduct heroes and villains from Earth, pitting them against each other for his own amusement.
In the second, an incursion ended with Doctor Doom ruling over an amalgamation of realities from across the Multiverse, all pulled together to create a twisted new world.
While we're guessing Avengers: Secret Wars will borrow ideas from both stories, reliable insider @MyTimeToShineH is claiming that the movie's big bad will be The Beyonder!
The villain hails from an infinite realm beyond the Marvel Multiverse, called the Beyond-realm, and is the sum of everything outside that. It became self-aware and formed a being of immeasurable power known as "The Beyonder," and is both mankind's greatest saviour and threat.
In the MCU, The Beyonder will supposedly be a Kang the Conqueror Variant played by Jonathan Majors, an interesting twist that feels like an appropriate way to end the Multiverse Saga!
After all, The Kang Dynasty ending with Kang's defeat, only for us to immediately learn that there's an even more powerful Variant out there will be a great hook for that next Avengers movie. In fact, it sounds like a Snap-sized cliffhanger to us, and seeing as the scooper has such a strong track record, we'll be surprised if these claims don't eventually pan out.
Avengers: Secret Wars is set to be released in theaters on May 5, 2026.
