Walt Disney Pictures has announced release dates for two untitled Marvel properties, seemingly readying big announcements for Marvel Studios' panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 next month. Nabbing the early summer slots of May 6, 2016 and May 5, 2017, these two unknown titles are likely part of Marvel's Phase 3 slate, which kicks off with Edgar Wright's Ant-Man movie in 2015.
Endless possibilities come to mind regarding which Marvel characters will these two tentpoles be based upon, but Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige has boasted
Doctor Strange as part of their Phase 3 plans. Therefore, the Sorcerer Supreme is likely getting the 2016 release date. For the other film, it could very well be an
Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, or
Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, while 2017 would be too soon for
The Avengers 3. Of course, the 2017 film could (hopefully) also bring new characters to the big-screen; Black Panther, The Inhumans? What do you think?
As aforementioned, we should expect official announcements at Comic-Con which starts July 18-21, but like last year, you can almost bet "insider sources" of the internet will reveal titles for the films ahead of the announcements. In fact, Latino Review already claims to know one of the two titles.
