Thats pretty cool. You know it didn't happen like that in the Justice League cartoon thou. I really haven't read any of the final crisis in the past year. There were so many! Hard to keep up.

I had to just throw this out there simply for the little bit at the end (sorry 'bout the link - just copy and past the address):

"But don’t worry. This summer they have a book called Black Lantern. You know Green Lanterns? Based off will power? Now there is a spectrum of rings and powers.

- Yellow Lantern Corp is Fear based.
- Purple is love based.
- Blue is hope based.
- Red Lanterns are rage based.
- And Black Lanterns will be “The dead come to life.” (You get the idea? So maybe Bats isn’t dead.)"

It's bad enough they're killing off the Bat (yeah, I know they've been talking about this for awhile now), but to have him possibly come back a. undead and b. with lantern-like powers just don't seem... right. Bat's is cool because he's just human. To make him a zombie and give him a power ring seems like a cop-out to me...

i'm sure they will find a way to bring him back to normality. if they dont then batman will have lost what makes him so appealing as a character. if he is dead for good, who will take over. will it be azreal or nightwing? who knows.

Let's not forget he has that bastard kid who's been MORE than vocal about his claims on the cowl / mantle...

Good point, i personally feel it would have to be nightwing, i just couldn't see anyone else doing a better job.

The 'heir' doesn't HAVE to do a better job (especially if they plan on bringing Bruce back) - just look at the basketcase Azreal became during the 'Knightfall' aftermath.

Welcome to the confusion... Maybe... maybe it's all just a dream! Yeah... that's the ticket! Maybe Bruce will wake up a little kid and his parents aren't really dead.... maybe the planet Krypton really didn't blow up and El and company are living happily ever after... maybe clan Grayson didin't bite the big one... maybe Darkseid realized that he was just having a REALLY bad day... maybe it will be sunshine, pretty flowers and ponies in the DC Universe from now until eternity... MAYBE I can bend over and shoot fireballs and laserbeams out my @ss!!!! This is BS - I'm going back to the indies until BOTH DC AND Marvel pull their heads out of their 'fourth point of contact'!

Touriquet, DC isn't the ONLY guilty party in this non-sensical BS. Marvel has been JUST as guilty (uh, can you say 'Dark Phoenix/Jean Grey' or 'Electra' - just to name a few?)! Oh yeah their 'resurrections' made a TON of sense, now didn't they (can you say "(MAJOR) suspension of disbelief" - I know you can...)? This is just another BS ploy that a corporation is pulling to get more reader dollars! DC did it before with 'Death of Superman' and his subsequent 'return'. Marvel's doing it now with Captain America (don't be naive, you all KNOW Steve Rogers is coming back - it's only a matter of time!). I'm off to the magical land of the indie comic, where at least the artists/writers have a smidge of respect for their readers - who's with me?

The two comics after RIP show what happens after RIP. It recounts his career from Alfred's POV and ties into his escape at Darkseids lab.

Hey I'm fixn to drop some spoilers here for you so if you no like, no look.

Batman inestigates Orions death at the begining of the Crisis. He is captured by Darkseids minions. They want to create an army of soldiers based on Batman. so they hook him up to a psychic creature caled the Lump to absorb his memories. his memories drive the soldiers insane causing them to die. Batman takes control of the Lump causing it to rampage and kill his captors. which leads to Final Crisis 6 were he doethe one thing he said he'd neverdo use a gun. He used the Radon bullet that killed Orion at the same time Darkseid use the Omega Beams to kill Batman. The final frame is of Superman holding Batman's chared corpse.

It is probably one of the most powerful batman storylines ever written. grant Morrison is a genius, only he could create such a powerful death.

THEHAWK... but to possibly bring him back as some undead superhero in the 'Black' Lantern Corp seems like a cop-out to me. The Bat's 'charm' is that he's human (no power ring) and only has his intelligence and skills to rely on!

No worries, guys. You know Marvel & DC. They'll Ret-con anything that has to do with a major character dying. I wouldn't be surprised if Martian Manhunter comes back as a Black Lantern. If they do it with Bats, it will be temporary though. If Marvel can't even let a hack like Magneto die with out creating a ridiculous clone story and contridicting the Xorn arc, to bring his sorry fascist ass back, there's no way that DC will let a franchise like Bruce Wayne die. Just give it a year or so. If there's two dc characters that will never change or die for long, it's supes and bats.
PS: Final Crisis may be the best Darkseid story ever told. And that's saying a mouthful.

Bruce Wayne will come back as the first of the New Gods in the 5th world. Just an FYI.

loganoneil - 1/28/2009, 10:23 PM
Batman is NOT A GOD (you know what I mean)!!!! That is just WRONG (on SO may levels)! Hey DC, way to totally 'F' up the mythos!
IonParallax
IonParallax - 1/29/2009, 12:54 PM
You're right, he's not. HOWEVER, over the years he has shown many qualities that out perform some of the actual "gods" in the DCU. I do believe the original idea was to kill ALL THE MAJOR PLAYERS; i.e. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, GL etc so they can be resurrected as the new New Gods in the 5th world. But, they scrapped that idea since all except Bruce are pretty much god-like already. Wther that's the actual case now, is up for grabs. Also, if Bruce does come back in the Black Corps as an undead ring-bearer, he will be the ONLY person in the entire DCU to officially bear 3 seperate power rings. He had a Green one, He had a Yellow one (very shortly as he overcame it's hold) then he may have a Black one? I love the new Corps and colors etc. But, I think Bruce has done enough to not garner being a rainbow of rings. Transcend the mortal to goodhood where he belongs. I actually dig that.

Also, on another note, I have heard rumors about Bruces PARENTS coming back in the "Blackest Night" saga this summer as members of the Black Lantern Corps. Now, how F'ed up will that be for Bruce if he becomes an actual god-entity? Anyways, this is all just speculation, so we will have to see I guess.

Hey logan I never said that he was coming back as a Black Lanern and I was wrong anyway he's not dead. Darkseid hit him with the Omega Sanction not beams. Batman is not dead, instead he has been flung through time, neber to die or live if that makes since. at the end of Final Crisis 7 it shows Batman in the Stone Age laying his utility belt on a dying after painting one of Metrons symbols which Batman finished. So he's not dead jost lost in the Twilight Zone. (music starts playing theme).

Hawk, riddle me this - if he isn't dead and has 'travelled back in time' as you suggest, then why do they show the Big Blue Schoolboy CARRYING the Bat's lifeless body in the last panel (isn't he going to need it in the Stone Age, or wherever he ends up?)? Any way you slice it, (death or time travel), the is TOTAL BS!!!!!
THEHAWK
THEHAWK - 2/3/2009, 9:31 PM
Logan, according to Grant Morrison in an interview, the Bats not dead. Alright the Omega Sanction is what Darkseid used. What the Sanction does is it sends the victims spirit and soul troughout time. A the end of Final Crisis 7 it shows Bats putting his utility belt on the dying Anthros. It took me 3 readings to realize what happened. And it is BS and a cop out this way he can come back.

A the end of Final Crisis 7 it shows Bats putting his utility belt on the dying Anthros, The First Man, in the Stone Age. It took me 3 readings to realize what happened. So lemmie get this straight, he's not dead (per se - even though his SOUL has been separated from his BODY), but now he's a spirit/ghost thingie travelling through time and space righting wrongs and kicking ephemeral ass? What is this, some psychedelic superhero version of 'Quantum Leap'?!!! I said it before and I'll say it again, this is TOTAL BS!!!!! This BLOWS, I'm going back to the indies until the major labels come back to their senses and start writing plots that don't involve the reader taking copius quantities of LSD to follow...

Dude I agree it was an awesome arc for him until that point. Grant Morrison was awesome in writing RIP. The two follow up issues that showed what happened in between RIP and his kidnapping in Final Crisis. I like how the two issues showed a recap of the carreer from Alfred's POV. And Bruce promising Alred that the whole conspiricy wouldn't matter after this one last case. It switches over from there to Bruce's POV. Bruce recaps Finalcrisis up to his breakout, by doing the impossible yet again, using his mind as a weapon to kill the army that darkseid was trying to feed his memories to. Then breaking free and grabbing the gun and Radon Bullet to kill darkseid with, and thus coming full circle.

Wikipedia has a new article sinc yesterday that explains it pretty well, if you still don't get me.

Trust me you aren't. I hate to say it but I liked him dying better. It was more true to the character, than displacing him in time.

loganoneil - 2/10/2009, 4:26 PM
I believe it woud have been more fitting if Bruce had actually died PERMANENTLY (not that I WANT to see the Bat go...). Batman has a thing against guns (yeah, I know in the earl Kane stuff he sometimes actually carried one, but that's a different story arc). So what happens when he finally decides to break his cardinal rule...? BUT NOOOOOO, DC (or Marvel for that matter) doesn't have the balls to say, "Stay down!" to a major character. Rather that give them the proper hero's death, they decide to subject them to any number of ridiculous 'resurrection' or 'plot complications' that just water down the true value of the character. This sucks...

Agreed, but then some fans bitch about their hero being dead. so tey bring them back.......somehow
