The Batman Part II: Matt Reeves' Sequel Rumored To Finally Introduce The Court Of Owls

While we'd recommend taking this with a pinch of salt, a newly surfaced rumour suggests The Batman Part II will pit Robert Pattinson's Caped Crusader against the villainous Court of Owls.

There's a huge amount of intrigue surrounding The Batman Part II. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn recently debunked claims that Matt Reeves is shooting Part II and Part III back-to-back, leaving fans hopeful that the wait for the threequel won't be as long as the one for this follow-up.

Now, some very interesting claims have gained traction after first surfacing on Reddit. Several hours before the news broke that an actress has been cast to play a partygoer on New Year's Eve, a Redditor shared details about an NYE party featuring an exchange between Bruce Wayne and a member of the Court of Owls.

It sounds like a masquerade ball of some kind, which would obviously make it easy for the Court to blend in and threaten Bruce (especially if they know he's secretly Gotham City's Dark Knight). It's previously been speculated that Charles Dance is playing the group's leader.

The Redditor in question has since deleted their account, but as you'll see in the X post below, they didn't really say anything too far-fetched. However, working with Reeves doesn't sound like the easiest experience, largely because he's such a perfectionist.

As a reminder, the Court of Owls is a secretive, powerful organisation introduced in Batman #1 in 2011 by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo.

Hidden within Gotham City for centuries, the Court manipulates the city's elite and influences events from the shadows. They are known for using highly trained assassins called Talons, who are nearly immortal due to special resurrection technology.

The Court's existence challenges Batman's belief that he knows everything about Gotham, as they have remained hidden even from him. Their influence extends deep into Gotham’s history, making them one of Batman's most dangerous and mysterious foes.

Doing the rounds to promote The Penguin, Reeves was asked whether fans can expect to see the villains in The Batman - Part II. He responded, "We can't comment on the movie because we are doing the movie and then you'd know what movie we're doing, and we're not going to say that yet."

We don't know much at all about The Batman Part II, including who the movie's lead villain is. Current rumours point to characters like Two-Face, Victor Zsasz, and Poison Ivy factoring into the sequel, and even with The Court of Owls now in the mix, it's likely to be a while before we get official confirmation.

Directed by Matt Reeves from a script by him and Mattson Tomlin, The Batman Part II stars Robert Pattinson, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, Charles Dance, Jayme Lawson, Gil Perez-Abraham, Sebastian Koch, and Brian Tyree Henry.

The Batman Part II is set to be released in theaters on February 18, 2028.

Honestly , I could buy this as possibility to be honest…

You could have Sebastian Koch and Charles Dance’s characters as members of the Court (the latter could be the Grandmaster) but instead of near immortal Talons , they use Sebastian Stan’s Victor Zsasz as their enforcer to fit Reeves stylized yet still grounded universe.

Anyway , seeing a version of The Court of Owls hopefully could be fun since they could really fit this take’s tone & atmosphere imo!!.

I was never a fan of them but it probably fits into this world well. I just hope they don’t go the “Thomas Wayne was a bad person” route again. It’s lazy writing. He was a brilliant surgeon who taught Bruce to respect life at an early age. That, and not becoming “as bad as the criminals he stops” always made sense as to why Bruce refuses to kill.

Meh, this has been the expectation since Part 1...idk, I kind of wish it was something more exciting.

Good choices.

Bring on Poison Ivy as the main villain. Have the Owls all through the movie, and maybe have them lean on the Penguin. Have Harvey Dent be a good guy.

Bag Poison Ivy by the end. Reveal the full intentions of the Owls by the end of the movie, while having Dent get mangled into Two-Face.

Cliffhanger end. No Joker required.

@DocSpock - I like most of that, but no on screen Batman has earned his bones until he punches his Joker. Have Joker be the unpredictable element in the background after he escapes Arkham

This is more exciting than anything Gunn’s doing.
