Ben Affleck Confirms That Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN Will Focus On A Younger Dark Knight
It's long been rumored that Matt Reeves' planned Batman movie would introduce a younger take on The Dark Knight, and former Caped Crusader Ben Affleck has now confirmed as much during a new interview...
Although several reports have indicated that Warner Bros. and director Matt Reeves were planning to introduce a younger incarnation of Batman to take over from Ben Affleck's grizzled veteran, it had yet to be confirmed by anyone that's actually involved with the project... until now.
While promoting his new Netflix action flick Triple Frontier, Ben Affleck - who is still on board The Batman as a producer - reaffirmed that Reeves' film will indeed focus on a Caped Crusader who's just "starting out" as Gotham's protector.
“I’m looking forward to it," Affleck tells ET Canada. "They’ve got a great director. They’re doing a kind of, I don’t want to give away anything because they get…but they’re doing a young version, a more starting-out version with a younger guy.”
It seems pretty clear that Affleck knows a little more than he's prepared to divulge here, but there's a decent chance we will get some casting news soon enough.
For now, the same old names (give or take) continue to be churned out by the rumor mill, but until the trades weigh in or WB decides to make an official announcement, we simply won't know for sure which way Reeves is leaning for his new Dark Knight.
