New Rumor Once Again Points To THE BATMAN Being Standalone But There's Good News For Batfleck Fans

We've heard numerous times in the past that Matt Reeves' The Batman could be a standalone movie set apart from the DC Films Universe and now a new report sheds some light on that and Batfleck's future...

We're a little under two weeks into 2018 and we still have no idea what going on with The Batman. Matt Reeves has revealed that he has a story in place but there's still no script and Justice League's disappointing performance both critically and financially has left Ben Affleck's future in doubt as well.

Now, a new report claims to provide an update on where things stand and it's a mixture of good and bad news. For starters, it's implied that The Batman will not be connected to the DC Films Universe and will, in fact, be standalone similar to that movie revolving around The Joker that Warner Bros. has planned. As a result, it's easy to imagine Reeves recasting Affleck and starting from scratch.

However, there is still some hope for fans of his Caped Crusader. Warner Bros. reportedly wants to give him a sendoff in either Suicide Squad 2 or Flashpoint. The former is scheduled to start shooting this fall, while the latter remains very much up in the air so if Affleck is anxious to call it quits, that would be a good place to make it happen. How it will all end up playing out obviously remains to be seen.

It is, however, mentioned that Flashpoint has a part defined for Batman so it would probably make sense to wait for that. Whether or not Affleck is willing to obviously remains to be seen. Thoughts?
