THE BATMAN: Colin Farrell Is Now In Negotiations To Play The Villainous Penguin

Some more The Batman casting news here, as the trades are reporting that Colin Farrell (Daredevil, Dumbo) is in talks to round out the movie's trio of villains as The Penguin. More past the jump...

It looks like Matt Reeves may have found his Penguin, as Deadline reports that none other than Colin Farrell (Daredevil, Dumbo) is currently in negotiations to round out The Batman's trio of villains as Oswald Cobblepot.

Farrell, who previously played Marvel Comics villain Bullseye in the Daredevil movie. is certainly an unconventional choice to play the diminutive, rotund Batman baddie, but he has proven to be a versatile actor over the years. It will be interesting to see if he gains weight for the role, or delivers a completely new take on the character.

Reeves recently confirmed that Jeffrey Wright will play Commissioner Gordon, and he'll be joined by Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Paul Dano as The Riddler and Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. Several other villains, including Two-Face, were also rumored to appear early on, but there's been no official word since.

The Batman is set to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.

I Absolutely love this.KEEP HIS ACCENT! You can have Colin gain just enough weight & Just enough where he isn't Grotesques like Devito. You can have a Penguin that's an older English/Irish Aristocrat that's fallen from grace & has accepted his life as a Womanizing, Power Hungry, sadistic Mobster. He's made Gothams Underworld has become his Kingdom. Mirroring Bruce/Batman.

Seems like they might be taking some inspiration from the Telltale Games version of the Penguin

@Prork - I was going to post something about it. That'd make sense to do a similar take. Mixed with the version on Gotham.

I do wish he was up for a bigger role though. He's an amazing actor and a badass!

@Nostalgic - I think Penguin is the main villain (again, going off leaks from the scripting phase) so I wouldn't worry!

Hopefully he'll wear a fat suit, because I prefer Penguin a little heavy.

What even is this movie...this is so confusing. Why is Penguin better looking than Bruce Wayne?

@Super12 - I agree, but at the same time, a bit of movie magic can fix that.
