THE BATMAN's CinemaScore Has Been Revealed As The Movie Swoops To $110+ Million Overseas Opening

The Batman's CinemaScore has been revealed, but how does it compare to the Dark Knight's previous big screen adventures? We also have an update on the movie's performance at the international box office...

We brought you an update on The Batman's domestic box office performance earlier, but Deadline has now shared an update on its international performance. With 74 overseas markets now open, Matt Reeves' DC Comics adaptation grossed $54 million through Friday for an estimated $110+ million haul by the end of the weekend.

The global total as of yesterday was $111 million, and it should finish well north of $200 million by close of business tomorrow. It will be Monday when we have some more concrete figures, though.

In the UK, The Batman opened to £4.8 million ($6.4 million) for the second-highest opening day during the "pandemic era." Needless to say, it should be interesting keeping an eye on the movie's performance over the coming weeks, especially with no major competition on the horizon.

In other news, North American moviegoers have awarded The Batman an awesome A- CinemaScore. Each instalment of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy earned an A, but Matt Reeves reboot has improved on the B+ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League received, a sign perhaps that people were ready for a new Caped Crusader on screen.

How would you rate The Batman after watching it this weekend?

It was alright. I'd definilty be interested in a sequel. Think I need to watch this one again though for a fully formed opinion. It wasn't perfect.

@UnderBelly - I'm probably in the minority here but I hope they go after another director for the next Batman film.

@UnderBelly - Same boat as you. I went in with pretty high expectations, but not to the degree that I thought it would usurp the Nolan trilogy. So expectations weren't outrageous or anything.

@UnderBelly - I really liked some parts and then was meh on a lot of stuff. Really didn’t care for that cameo at the end though, not really sure this universe has enough juice for a sequel imo

@Typhoon20 - wont happen. i think this director has control over this like snyder did. he wont pass it on

@Typhoon20 - I think Grif is right,he's staying involved and already spearheading a couple of series. The reviews and feedback are also alot more positive than Snyder's first go, so I'm sure there's more confidence.

@Amino - I went in expecting something good. Reeves is a good director and the atmosphere he creates are great. Given the material he adapted, it was really well done here. I just felt it was maybe about 20 minutes too long.

@Ha1frican - I think it will get a sequel, unless the plan all along was to use it as a launch pad for the spin off series. They won't waste Pattinson's star power, also don't forget Batman Begins didn't set the box office on fire either and lead to TDK. Hopefully this can lead to something similar and better. It was a decent enough start.

@UnderBelly - the style and design were great, the themes and story were not.

Not even sure how good a sequel will be when they went out of their way to say that Batman fighting crime is bad.

@grif - he won’t pass and Warner won’t roll the dice with a new director when this one was good enough

Random thought: Penguin had to have killed a dozen people in that highway crash. And he just….WALKS SCOTT FREE. That was odd.

@BlackBeltJones - To be fair I'm sure Batman was indirectly responsible too. Didn't seem to focus too much on making sure others weren't harmed.

That chase was dope though! a little on the short side but still dope

@BlackBeltJones -

Random thought, did you notice the editing was kinda off in that scene? When the batman hits that ramp when the tanker explodes it cuts back to penguin thinking he got away for a good 10 seconds but then batman flies through the flames

I was like: batman hit that ramp seconds ago but he is just now flying through the air🤔?

@Feralwookiee - “assholes” - Selina Kyle

GhostDog - 3/5/2022, 6:01 PM
@AmazingFILMporg - yea the editing was choppy in a few scenes to be honest.

Also, the Selina kick scene when she confronts Batman at the murder scene was cgi

@BlackBeltJones - I just wonder what other racial group a character would get away with generalizing about like that.

Substitute the word "Jewish" or "Asian" or anything else in there and that scene would be cut so fast your head would spin. 😝

What a good ass movie.

That Cinema score is lower than ALL of Nolan's films.

That is about right!

@Forthas - this movie is certainly better than TDKR, come on now.
JesseCuster
JesseCuster - 3/5/2022, 4:42 PM
@Asterisk - Agreed. I rewatched every Batman outing prior to this one and while I don't think it necessarily beats out Batman Begins or The Dark Knight, it's an excellent detective movie that far exceeds TDKR.
