Production is now well underway on The Batman spin-off The Penguin, and thanks to Just Jared, we have a first look at Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone.
In the wake of Carmine Falcone's death, it's said that we'll see Sofia step into the spotlight. Apparently, she's only recently been released from Arkham Asylum after nearly a decade behind bars, and it was Oz who put her there.
He wants to take over Gotham City's underworld, but Sofia is out for revenge and "a bold, sharp villain whose next move is never predictable." We also learned last year that "Sofia’s presence makes the entire room tense," while it's been confirmed Selina Kyle (a.k.a. Catwoman) will be her sister in this reality.
Colin Farrell was once again seen transformed into the HBO Max show's title character, and it appears he's living the high life with a flash new purple sports car.
Reeves is thought to be intent on at least making a trilogy of movies, and despite that big Joker tease, we can't help but wonder whether the idea is to establish The Penguin as Batman's main big bad. Whatever the case may be, with DC Studios developing The Brave and the Bold, it will be interesting seeing how these separate franchises complement each other.
As for The Penguin, it's a series with a lot of potential and we're expecting at least a cameo appearance from Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight somewhere in those eight episodes.
Joining Farrell and Milioti are Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Deirdre O’Connell.
The Batman II is set to be released in theaters on October 3, 2025. The Penguin, meanwhile, will likely premiere on HBO Max sometime in 2024.
