A rumor did the rounds last week which claimed that
The Batman director Matt Reeves was looking at Vanessa Kirby (
Mission: Impossible - Fallout, The Crown) for the role of Catwoman, and
ET asked the actress about it when they caught up with her at the world premiere for her latest movie,
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
Kirby denied any knowledge of the rumor (though even if there was some truth to it, she'd hardly confirm), but it does sound like she would jump at the chance to play the iconic DC Comics character should the opportunity present itself.
"I don’t know anything about it," she responded when asked if she could provide an update. However, when asked if she would be interested in suiting-up as Selina Kyle, she gushed,
"Are you kidding?! I would love to be Catwoman. Oh my god, it would be a dream."
"I'd have to do lots of squats," she added.
"I mean, literally, lots of squats."
Again, even if Kirby was being courted for the role she'd be highly unlikely to admit during an interview, so there's always a chance she's playing coy here. Either way, we should begin to see some names pop up fairly soon - and not just for Catwoman. If recent rumors are to be believed, the movie is going to feature a lot of The Caped Crusader's villains, including The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and more.
Robert Pattinson will play a younger take on
The Batman. The reboot is set to hit theaters in June of 2021.
