WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES Director Matt Reeves Might Be Eyeing A 2019 Release Date For THE BATMAN

With news that Matt Reeves will be starting The Batman from scratch, it was a mystery when we might see the film. However, a new bit of info has popped up that would seem to suggest a 2019 release date.

Yesterday, Matt Reeves confirmed that he had ditched Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns' script for The Batman in favor of developing his own. It was a fact that was widely assumed, but never confirmed until the director himself made it clear.

There was another interesting nugget buried in Variety's report of the story. According to the trade publication, The Batman is now "projected" to get a 2019 release date.

Variety is a well known, and respected news outlet, and their reports are always accurate. However, with Reeves is just coming off of War For The Planet Of The Apes, and needing some time to rest, develop a script and start pre-production, I'd wait for confirmation from Warner Brothers before I got too excited.
