Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey didn't really give much screentime to, well, the Birds of Prey, and this newly released "Honest Trailer" for the DC Comics adaptation doesn't hold back in pointing that out...

Originally titled Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), Warner Bros.' latest DC Comics adaptation has come under fire from fans for not spending enough time to focusing on that team. In fact, the spotlight being on Harley Quinn in a movie that was billed as a "girl gang" team-up has been blamed by many for why it underperformed financially. 

That's just one of the points the "Honest Trailers" team focus on in this tongue in cheek look at the newly named Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, and they make a lot of very valid observations! 

The R-Rating also proves to be an issue for them, as does the absence of Jared Leto's Joker believe it or not. In fairness, though, the film definitely would have benefited from him making a physical appearance here rather than just being a stand-in and someone Harley talked about. 

On the plus side, Ewan McGregor's Ronan Sionis/Black Mask receives a fair bit of praise!

Love it or hate it, Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey certainly got fans talking, and there's still a lot of excitement surrounding her return in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad next year.

Good stuff. Saw some people on the YouTube comments complaint about the Mandarin Black Mask comparison in which they kept bringing up Dhang Chi has the real Mandarin. Until that movie comes out the comparison is fair game in my opinion.

@MrCamw1 - even after shang chi comes out, the comparison is still fair game. sure they fixed it, but at the time of production and release, it was the intended version of the mcu's mandarin

Why is it Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey in the headline? I thought WB didn't officially change the title and it was only titled Harley Quinn on movie tickets.

Remember going into this movie, thinking I might enjoy it but felt bored.

That is until Huntress showed up and it got interesting, I'd have rather watched a movie about her.

@SimplyAz - yeah she was the most interesting character and she was pretty pointless, good thing they changed the diamond from dick picks to her money, cause without that, yeah she has no reason to be there. Could have given her origin its own movie.

@SimplyAz - yeah. I liked how she was basically a parody of those stereotypical "someone killed my family now im training for revenge" types to the point she keeps trying and failing to be cool and doesnt know how to talk about anything other than killing.

Saw this with with a friend when it came out. She really liked it. Me on the other hand, though it was okay. But man did they waste Black Mask.

I challenge you guys to try to watch it a second time. It was semi-enjoyable the first time through, but rewatching it I had to turn it off early on. Loud, annoying and visually looks like hot garbage.

@Spock0Clock - You should check out Filmento's video on the film on YouTube. He actually made a really good point about it.

Basically it makes Black Mask a better villain and fits the more absurdist tone of the film. Instead of Sionis wanting more money while he's already so rich and powerful (which is such a cliché), the film could have explored his sexuality and insecurities. He'd instead want the diamond so bad because he's afraid of someone finding it and finding out that he's actually gay, which to him may affect how tough people will think he is. Of course the big reveal would be that no one would care and he was just insecure about it, but it would have meant more for a film that apparently has messaging on toxic masculinity in it.
