WONDER MAN Officially Renewed For Season 2; Marvel Releases First Poster

Though we'd be more surprised if Marvel didn't move forward with a second season following the show's positive reception, we now have confirmation that Wonder Man will return...

Marvel Studios has officially announced that Wonder Man will return for a second season, with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley set to reprise their respective lead roles as Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery.

The Disney+ show's creative team is also back on board, with Destin Daniel Cretton to return as director and executive producer, and Andrew Guest as showrunner and executive producer.

Though it's probably fair to say that hype for Wonder Man wasn't exactly through the roof in the buildup to the show's premiere, Marvel Television's latest MCU-set series succeeded in winning over a lot of fans. Critics were also very impressed, and the show sits at 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Wonder Man's dialled-back approach to superheroics and focus on character over spectacle proved to be a welcome change for those hoping to see something genuinely different from an MCU project, and viewers are eager to see more of Simon and Trevor following the events of the season finale.

In "Yucca Valley," Trevor Slattery sacrifices his freedom to keep Simon Williams out of prison, taking the blame for the explosion his friend caused by once again posing as terrorist leader the Mandarin. In the final scene, Simon uses the full extent of his mysterious abilities to break Trevor out of Department of Damage Control custody.

This obviously wasn't going to be the last we saw of these two, but the show's future was never guaranteed. This news makes Wonder Man just the third live-action Disney+ Marvel series to get a second season after Loki and Daredevil: Born Again (S2 premieres tomorrow).

Are you happy about the news that Wonder Man has been renewed for a second season? Check out the first poster artwork, and drop us a comment down below.

Aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams is struggling to get his career off the ground. During a chance meeting with Trevor Slattery, an actor whose biggest roles may be well behind him, Simon learns legendary director Von Kovak is remaking the superhero film “Wonder Man”. These two actors at opposite ends of their careers doggedly pursue life-changing roles in this film as audiences get a peek behind the curtain of the entertainment industry.

Along with Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, Wonder Man will star Demetrius Grosse as Simon's brother Eric Williams, aka the Grim Reaper, along with Sir Ben Kingsley as the returning Trevor Slattery. Byron Bowers is also on board as Doorman. We had heard that Ed Harris, Bob Odenkirk, and Courtney Cox had been enlisted for cameos, but none of them actually showed up (Josh Gad played himself).

@TheRedLeader - Or maybe cause it’s overrated and not everyone has to blindly like something just cause a few reviewers found it engaging?

@skyshark03191 - Or maybe they just couldn't get into it (as they said) and there's nothing more to it.

Not everybody's going to like or dislike something, no matter how the masses feel about it.

@jlabatman - It's a slow burn. Way better than most that's come out in the last 10 years, Loki and Daredevil excluded.

@pucrepeap - It was written for TV and not a 6 episode movie. Good writing and good acting can carry a TV show and this showed that. Loved Loki for similar reasons. Never liked DD but that's just personal preference but it is also written for TV.

LFG!!!! I did not think they had a chance if I’m being honest. It didn’t seem like a big hit in the viewer department but the DCU(destin cinematic universe) is alive and well
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 3/23/2026, 4:28 PM
@MyCoolYoung - lol more like DDCU (Destin Daniel Cretton Universe)

Given the lack of VFX or big action or spectacle , it seems like it was a relatively inexpensive show to make so I feel it had a likelier chance of getting a second season then some other shows even with the viewership being more niche.
MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 3/23/2026, 4:30 PM
@TheVisionary25 - that’s a good one lol

I didn’t think of it like that. Marvel has crafted its own version of the big budgets fund the smaller ones if you will
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 3/23/2026, 4:39 PM
@MyCoolYoung - yeah

I wouldn’t be surprised if this like Daredevil comes out annually aswell which certainly raises some questions about Secret Wars of this and DD S3 come out next year.
MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 3/23/2026, 5:19 PM
@TheVisionary25 - secret wars like end game messes up everything lol(I say that lightly) as far as logistics go. I’d assume wonder man after secret wars but who knows. I’m excited as hell for secret wars but I’m not all that interested in shows and movies set on battleworld l. Maybe they’ll be good though
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 3/23/2026, 5:24 PM
@MyCoolYoung - same

I don’t have any particular interest in any Battleworld stories aswell since they seems like a waste of time & resources given the temporary nature of that universe.
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 3/24/2026, 7:45 AM
@MyCoolYoung - Well Secret Wars WILL make changes, but it isn't anymore of an end than CoIE was for Arrowverse thus need not have THAT much impact on more grounded TV shows IF the whole Battleworld stuff starts after one season and concludes before the next. As such the BIGGER question is how much Doomsday could have impact on the like of DD and Wonderman, not Secret Wars where afterwards 616 will likely be close to how it has always been for most even if there are some significant changes (again, like post CoIE Arrowverse) and most the populace are likely to be unaware that anything has changed (some heroes WILL know but may need a similar one dude who recalls the pre-world changing events looping them in on how/why their memories have been altered and the world changed).

I mean we ALL hope post SW MCU is better than post CoIE was for DC TV but...

...main thing is where Doomsday leaves things, if the current Earth remains as is at the end of that no issues, as one film tween seasons need not mess things like this or DD up as much as we may think. IF Doomsday DOES conclude with the end of 616 Earth as was and the creation of Battleworld then they may just set shows prior to Doomsday even if landing after or do a suitable time jump to AFTER Secret Wars like AoS tried to pull off.
MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 3/24/2026, 1:13 PM
@Apophis71 - I think you’re kinda hitting where I am. I’d assume most of earth is decimated by the end of Doomsday with the very last incursion then doom created battleworld.

Where it leaves things is the question but I’d assume it isn’t business as usual, but who knows. I’m just worried about the shows set during battleworld being that nothing will stay the same after secret wars
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 3/24/2026, 3:59 PM
@MyCoolYoung - Like many others, really unsure about any show set on Battleworld and certainly not any of the more grounded ones. I COULD however see them doing a Champions TV series set there as a one and done thing or a take on Midnight son's or some such) but DD and WM would be a hard no
MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 3/24/2026, 8:24 PM
@Apophis71 - I could definitely get behind a champion series there. You cooked with that one

@MrDandy - Yeah... that fight was like when you accidentally skip a cutscene in a game. Other than that it was really good. Oscar Isaac's performance is one of the best in the MCU.
