Earlier this year, Natasha Romanoff became the latest Marvel Comics character to get her own alien symbiote. While she hasn't become the new Venom, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent has received a major power upgrade.

This week, Marvel Comics announced that we'll next see this formidable new Black Widow when she's reunited with Clint Barton in the pages of Black Widow & Hawkeye

Celebrating 60 action-packed years of the iconic duo, this new chapter in the pair's storied legacy will be told by rising Marvel stars, writer Stephanie Phillips, known for her acclaimed work on Contest of Chaos and Cosmic Ghost Rider, and Paolo Villanelli, currently delivering cosmic brilliance in Captain Marvel: Dark Tempest.

The four-issue limited series will both dive into the duo's history of secrets and espionage while playing off recent developments including Natasha's aforementioned bonding with a symbiote.

"The eyes of a Hawk and the Venom of a Widow," reads the official solicitation text. "Even when Black Widow and Hawkeye had no one to trust, they still had each other – even though their paths sometimes diverged. So when Clint Barton is accused of a rogue assassination attempt that puts the U.S. and Madripoor at odds, a symbiote-equipped Natasha Romanoff thinks nothing of coming to his aid."

"But as echoes of their past ripple into the present, it will take all their faith in each other - and the lessons learned along the way - to protect their futures."

As has become the norm with many Marvel Comics titles, this will be a limited series that runs for only four issues. There was a time when pretty much everything was an ongoing series, though that often led to cancellations which disappointed fans as sales steadily declined the longer a comic book run progressed.

Sharing her excitement to tell this story, Phillips said, "I love getting the chance to dig deep with Natasha Romanov and Clint Barton to tell a fast-paced spy story that celebrates their 60th anniversary. Nothing is as it seems, and I'm having a ton of fun writing these characters. Not to mention they both look great for 60."

Does Marvel have a Venom fetish or something?

@WarMonkey -
The idea is that Spider-man PS5 and the upcoming Venom 3 will help to promote the comic via association because the comic includes Venom.

Best guess story wise is that it allows Black Widow to explore some of her darker moments through the suit providing flashbacks of her time alone, potentially losing herself to it so that Hawkeye has to fight her. Then later she can come to the realization of the suit impacting her and she chooses her bond with Hawkeye over the suit providing flashbacks to her time with Hawkeye, allying with him to defeat the main villain.

@WarMonkey - Just lazy writing. I cringe whenever I hear about these storyline premises.

@dragon316 - The question was, "Does Marvel have a Venom fetish or something?" My answer was, essentially, "Venom is a popular character."

@WarMonkey - Marble wants to make Venom a slut and have it connect with as many Marble characters as it can and get a huge body count. So modern. 🤣

@LogansRazor - I'd take 90s comics over present day.

60s-80s is when Marvel was at their best.
