COMICS: Alex Ross' Breathtaking MARVEL LEGACY #1 Cover Brings Back The Classic Marvel Universe
Marvel Legacy #1 promises to restore the Marvel Universe to a more familiar place & this variant cover by Alex Ross restores many of the heroes to their classic looks as The Avengers assemble.
Marvel has released their September solicitations and in them, we get to see Alex Ross' incredible variant cover for Marvel Legacy #1, a one-shot which they promise will "usher in a new dawn — one whose rays will touch every corner of the Marvel Universe in the days to come." Based on what we've heard, this is the start of a return to the classic Marvel Universe and original numbering.
Basically, it's Marvel's own DC Rebirth, something they must realise has helped their Distinguished Competition. After all, the Disney-owned publisher has been fighting falling sales for a while now and cancelled titles have become a regular occurrence due to a clear lack of interest from many fans.
What exactly this will entail remains to be seen, but as you can see below, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America are all back in their classic costumes and that appears to be the Bruce Banner version of The Hulk. They're also surrounded by newer heroes like Ms. Marvel, the all-new Ghost Rider, and the X-Men are totally absent; instead, it's Inhumans leader Black Bolt who looms.
"It begins at the dawn of the human race, and ends with a child’s prayer," teases the solicitation text. "In between, empires fall, mysteries brew, secrets are revealed, quests are undertaken and legends are forged! All leading up to the dramatic return you’ve been waiting for — and one you’ve been dreading!" What do you guys think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
