Hi, this is my review of the new comic book series, Hawkeye from Marvel. I'm a big Marvel and Avengers fan, loved the film and Hawkeye, but I have not much backstory to the character. Thankfully, with this new series of comic books you don't need to know his backstory, a great touch to draw in new readers. The cover art is sparse, but very interesting, the story focuses on Clint Barton more than Hawkeye, which is a good, inventive twist. Its not a superhero story, more a story of what Clint Barton gets up to when he is not part of the Avengers team. The artwork is excellent, really invoking the grime of New York City very well, the first page panel is reminiscant of a scene from The Avengers, of Hawkeye falling from a building whilst shooting an arrow. He hits the side of the building and lands on a car, giving him a shattered pelvis, broken ribs and more awful injuries. He then spends six months recovering. The first six panels are the only time in the story he is in his Avengers "uniform", the rest of the story he is in normal clothes. The main story involves the crooked landlord of the place he is staying in, and an injured dog, this sounds quite mundane, but it is actually a very good, well paced story, that spins back and forth in time, but its never confusing to the reader.
I highly reccomend this comic, I have already placed a standing order for the rest of the series. At the moment it is a one story an issue format, but no doubt there will be longer and more involving stories to come, I for one can't wait....

I thought it was pretty good, I wouldn't give it a 5 out of 5 however. Maybe a 4.

Aye, you are right, the extra star was due to my liking of the character, lol. Looking forward to this series of books, and his team up with Kate Bishop.
