COMICS: The Original God Of Thunder Returns (With An Ultimate Twist) In THOR: THE UNWORTHY Series

Jane Foster has remained the "Mighty Thor" since the events of Secret Wars, but now the original Odinson looks set to return with a new look and weapon which is sure to be familiar to fans of The Ultimates.

Thor may have been deemed unworthy (hence why Jane Foster is the current God of Thunder), but the character will finally return in a new series written by Jason Aaron with artwork by Olivier Coipel. Neither of them are strangers to his adventures, as the former has been writing the character for years now, while the latter brought the hero back to life alongside J. Michael Straczynski way back in 2007.

Titled Unworthy Thor, the first issue's cover can be seen below. It depicts the titular character wielding his axe Jarnbjorn while reaching for another Mjolnir, the one once held by the Ultimate Thor.

"I wanted something big to come out of 'Thors' that would affect our characters going forward, so that turned out to be a hammer. This is just a great, great beast of metal," Aaron told io9 of the weapon's return. "So to have that somehow fly through the events of Secret Wars and land in the normal Marvel Universe, which we saw at the end of 'Thors,' at Old Asgard— of course it went back to Old Asgard, but the old Asgard, nobody lives there. So, it’s just been sitting there, all this time."

For [frick]s sake just tell us what fury said to him. I'm fine with him having ultimate mjolnir for while. Also I can't be the only one who hates asgardia, go back to the real Asgard already.

That's an axe, not a hammer.
