So, this is really old news but if you haven't heard, Jeph Loeb and Ed Mcguinness are leaving their short Nova run with issue 5. I'll be the first to admit, I love the new Nova. I feel it's a great introduction to any newcomers. The story is good and the characters have so far been up to scratch. I understand that the character of Sam is meant to be a dedication to Jeph's son so I look forward to seeing how a new writer deals with him. However, I am not displeased with Jeph leaving. I think the reason is because he seems to be so good at setting characters up. The first two issue of Nova alone have set up Sam extremely well and as the story arc continues, I'm sure we will see a rapid development in character. So far, the series has set up an on-going story which I would like to see build-up in the months ahead. So Jeph Loeb's passing on the torch isn't such a bad thing after-all. I would like to have seen him make it to issue 6, but I'm not complaining. Now, lets move onto Ed Mcguinness. I find his simplistic art style works for the comic. But I do feel that with this new creative team, we will see a more mature Nova comic.
Which leads me nicely into who the new people working on Nova will be. It should be no surprise that Zeb Wells and Paco Medina will be working on the comic starting with issue 6. I'm not too familiar with their work, but looking at Paco's art, it looks like we will be seeing the mature Nova I want to see.
So there's my thoughts on what is happening with Nova. But what do you guys think? i would be interested in seeing if you like the new Nova, if you're glad that Jeph is leaving or if you want him to stay.
