Marvel/ Disney: The new 'Star Wars' of the 21st Generation.

I see incredible potential for Marvel's cosmic properties to launch into the universe of film and become the new 'Star Wars' of the 21st generation!
It could be epic in the true sense of the word! Universally epic!

Star Wars has been around for 34 years.
Some people like the new prequels...some don't(most of us), and I don't think Lucas is ever going to come through with some juicy new stuff 'Star Wars' geeks like myself will ever be content with unless fresh eyes and minds adopt the franchise and return it to it's former 'glory'.
So Marvel/Disney...lets talk.
You guy's like money. You and your stock holders like million- no- billions of dollars, so here's a suggestion:
TAKE. OVER. THE. SPACE ADVENTURE GENRE!
Look, Lucas ,Inc. dropped the ball- now's your chance to move in and become the 'Star Wars' for the 21st generation!
With what do you ask?! Are you crazy! You mean you don't KNOW the potential of your own properties?! Well, I can tell you that your fanboys know- here's a sample:

...and Annihilus and the Negative zone, including of course the present king, 'Blastaar'!
There are other cosmic characters- perhaps the greatest of all, 'Silver Surfer' who is not available at the moment, that are part of the Marvel U. that have AMAZING stories and over many years, hundreds of comics which can be transcribed into films to last the next 50 years!
Amazing story-lines and story arcs to explore, namely 'Annihilation' , 'Annihilation Conquest' and 'Annihilators' to mention a recent few , to explore and expand upon into films that can perhaps rival 'James Bond' as a film legacy for the next 25 years!
There's a potential here , and depth of material, that can make the the 'Star Wars' universe look obsolete.
I get excited at the thought of 'Groot' and 'Rocket Racoon' going up against the 'Universal Church of truth' along with 'Gamora' and 'Mantis' and the rest of the GOTG to resue the universe from imploding, or 'Rich Rider', the cosmic police officer, with the ever nagging 'Zandarian World Mind' responding to an 8X8 somewhere in the galaxy ! Not to mention the intrigue of having to rebuild to 'Nova Corps' solo.
Who wouldn't want to watch 'Gorgon','Karnak','Crystal' and the rest of the 'In-Humans be transported by 'Lockjaw' to battle 'Super-Skrull'-!, I would!
I've given just a taste of the POTENTIAL Marvel/Disney has at their disposal- I know many of us can note many other characters and story arcs from many comics over the years to add to the incredible source material available!
Like perhaps a 'Starjammers' tie-in (if Fox will agree to a shared profit deal)with a future 'Avengers' movie. WOW!!!
The mind boggles at the possibilities!
I could go on and on, but would rather turn it over to your opinions!

'I'M A TACTICAL GENIUS BTW!"

@heisei24

Kevin Feige said that The Avengers' villain opens up more opportunities to explore cosmic tales.
Pretty exciting stuff ;)

what happens when RDJ quits, what will happen this universe is already extremely iron man centered, i doubt they would reboot, but ironman is their most popular character now, and that is because of RDJ

Iron Man Centered Universe? The Avengers will change that ;)

I'd be more worried about Samuel L. Jackson leaving.

Nick Fury has held this universe together, only Uatu the Watcher can replace that role.

I'm looking forward to a GOTG movie. More Space Epics are needed.

Why would they need to reboot when Downey Jr's contract is up? This article compares marvel's movies to James Bond, and I think thats a great comparison. James bond had over 20 films made, with many different actors playing Bond before they rebooted.

As long as Marvel finds quality people to continue playing these heroes after actor's contracts are up, then it will be fine. People won't have a problem with it.

I hate that the reboot word is thrown around so much, especially when its not needed. An actor leaving a movie series does no require a reboot.

I agree, although Marvel would need to get some of those properties back under their control, mainly FF, Silver Surfer, Galactus, Annihilus, (Inhumans?), Shi'ar, and Starjammers.

But they could definately get a good start with Guardians of the Galaxy. GOTG could be the Iron Man of the cosmic side of things. I'm sure Marvel holds the rights to plenty of alien races and more than likely MOST of the cosmic gods. So they could go anywhere with it.

After you set up a good base of cosmic characters (including Adam Warlock) then they could build off of Thanos collecting the Infinity Gauntlet and make one massive IG movie. It would be unbelievable!

Especially since supposedly Loki gives Thanos either the Infinity Gauntlet or an Infinity Gem in "Avengers". Their already setting something up for that to happen!

I just hope that Loki isn't giving Thanos the entire Gauntlet with all the gems collected already. I want to see the cosmic movies center around Thanos going around the universe collecting the gems from various people.

It would be a great way to introduce a lot of characters.

I miss the edit button.

@CorndogBurglar- Good ideas there! Marvel could also explore Thanos's unhealthy love affair with death, using it as a motivator for all that might follow.
I'd like to see 'Knowhere' explored as well; having the 'passport bracelets' gives characters access to the whole universe.
'Cosmo' FTW!
