Marvel Comics Reveals Weirdest Variant Covers Yet With New "Ski Chalet" Line As Superheroes Hit The Slopes

Marvel Comics has unveiled a weird new line of comic book covers dubbed "Ski Chalet" variants featuring many of our favourite superheroes hitting the slopes to celebrate the holiday season. Check them out!

Winter is right around the corner, and many of our favourite Marvel Comics characters are going to suit up for some snow-filled fun in new "Ski Chalet Variant Covers."

At first glance, we thought these might be some sort of promotional tie-in with a winter gear company but, nope, the publisher has enlisted an all-star lineup of artists for these frosty new variant covers which will be featured on select Marvel titles throughout December.

The first batch showcases Captain America, Storm, Spider-Boy and more all decked out in new winter apparel designs and enjoying all kinds of cold-weather activities. Today, another couple have followed, this time starring Mary Jane Watson and Spider-Woman.

And yes, that's J. Scott Campbell once again putting his own unique spin on MJ, so we'd expect it to sell out fast based on past experience (even if the premise of these covers is a tad ridiculous).

They're all in good fun, though, and there's plenty of major artistic talent to be found here, including Russell Dauterman, Greg Land, and Humberto Ramos.

Last year, Marvel Studios released The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Disney+ to celebrate Christmas, and prior to that, Iron Man 3, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Hawkeye were all also set around that time of year. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like 2023 will feature a similar celebration.

However, should rumours of What If...? arriving in time for December 25 prove to be correct, then we may well see an episode featuring Happy Hogan setting out to save Christmas arrive in time for the holidays.

Will you be picking up any of these "Ski Chalet Variant Covers" when they arrive in comic book stores later this year?

I like these. It's sort of like when the X-Men play baseball. Somehow comforting.

@GoldenBoy02 - Agreed. Comic covers have become a complete joke. Everyone is posing. No action whatsoever. Random Gil Kane goodness to honor the good old days.

@Razorface1 - I’ve seen worse on the slopes. My local hill has an annual bikini race and chippendale run. 🥶

So much comics these days with variant covers. The worst are the ones like these that doesn't have anything to do with the story inside. Don't judge a book by its cover. I need to see interior art to get interested. Interior art that's usually done in a completely different style than the cover. An old fact like me rather buy "new" old comics.

I' sure this will have all those readers hammering at the doors of the comic shops that are left to get their copies!

Mind you the Storm image is cool
