We do quite a few unboxing videos, but we wanted to do something a little different this week. Rather than focusing on the Marvel and DC POP! figures and boxes we normally cover (CLICK HERE to check out our recent "DC's Most Wanted" unboxing!), we decided to splurge and go with something bigger.

X-Men comics are a big part of my collection, especially those from the '80s and '90s when I was old enough to earn my own money and spend it how I chose. The Dark Phoenix Saga blew me away as a boy and when we saw the Dark Phoenix Premium Format Figure from Sideshow we knew without a doubt that it would be perfect for our first "serious" unboxing video.

The figure is awesome! Standing at 22" tall and weighing in at a whopping 14 lbs. Most of that weight resides in the base as the Dark Phoenix rises from the flames. Pictures, and even video, really don't do the piece justice.

Note that there was an earlier version of the figure that included two heads, one with white eyes and one with normal eyes, but it's now sold out. Luckily the Dark Phoenix figure that we purchased came with the head that we preferred (the alternate head with the normal eyes just didn't look right).

The Dark Phoenix Premium Format Figure is limited to 4,000 units and is available for $499.99. Check it out here!

What did you think of the "Dark Phoenix" statue? Should we do more of these types of videos? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

@smgmayhem - Jean looks good. I wonder if they will ever do a Rachel Summers Blue Phoenix, or regular Phoenix?

I have only ever gotten two figures and those were the Hot Toys Cap and Falcon from The Winter Soldier.

I guess the $499. was just a business expense, right?
