PLANET HULK: Marvel Comics Reveals First Details On Greg Pak's PLANET HULK: WORLDBREAKER Sequel

Marvel Comics has finally revealed the first details about Greg Pak's upcoming Planet Hulk sequel that will see the Jade Giant make his long overdue return to Sakaar. Find out what else to expect here...

It was way back in 2006 that writer Greg Pak, along with artists Carlo Pagulayan and Aaron Lopresti, crafted Planet Hulk, one of the most iconic stories to ever grace the pages of Incredible Hulk

This November, Pak will return to that storyline in Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker, and this five-issue limited series will take place a thousand years into the future and present a shocking expansion and culmination of the mythos of Sakaar. In the series, Pak will be joined by visionary Devil’s Reign artist Manuel Garcia.

Planet Hulk told the rousing tale of Hulk's time on the alien planet Sakaar after being exiled from Earth by the Illuminati. The epic story arc had a defining impact on Hulk that’s still felt today and went on to inspire spinoffs and media adaptations (Thor: Ragnarok adapted the story, while there are rumblings of plans for World War Hulk).

A thousand years from now on the planet Sakaar, a young woman with green skin searches for the legendary Green Scar to help save her brother from a group of apocalyptic cultists. But which Hulk will she find? And after all these years, is he truly the Sakaarson, who will save us all - or the Worldbreaker, who will destroy us?

"Working on Planet Hulk remains one of the greatest experiences I've ever had in storytelling," Pak said. "So it was a huge thrill to get the call from editor Mark Paniccia inviting me to dive back in. What makes this story feel so special is that we're going back to Sakaar a thousand years in the future. That's opened up doors to do some spectacular worldbuilding with mindblowing art from Manuel Garcia, Cam Smith, and Chris Sotomayor."

"And we're exploring big emotional stories that pay off the huge themes of the Hulk and the Green Scar that I've built over many years through all my Hulk stories. In a time of change and crisis, what do we do with the power we have, and how do we handle the terrifying repercussions? A thousand years from now, who knows where those questions will take us?"

This sounds like a fun way to revisit the Planet Hulk storyline, and Marvel Comics has shared a first look at the series in the form of Carlo Pagulayan's incredible cover for Planet Hulk: Worldbreaker #1.

Check that out below and keep checking back here for the latest on this upcoming series as we have it!

OOOO...MMMMM....GGGG. I can't believe it! Another event rehash! Oh joy, cause that's exactly what REAL comic fans want. Event rehash, Event rehash, genderswap, mantleswap, Event rehash, rinse and repeat. This is the current status quo over at Marvel and DC.

No creativity. no originality. The last time I saw something from the big 2 that was truly one of a kind and a joy to read was House and Powers of X. I work in a comic store part time during the weekdays, and I'm here to tell you the industry is not doing well.

For a second there I though that was Hulk with a Winter Soldier arm, and now I want a What If Hulk was the Winter Soldier or a What If Winter Soldier can turn into the Hulk.

I loved the Planet Hulk storyline, but damn is Marvel running out of ideas? They are once again touching on the whole Planet Hulk/ WWH material. We want some new/creative stories, next thing you know they will make a Civil War 3 or yet another clone saga.

As a BIG fan of the Planet Hulk and World War Hulk storylines, this scares me.

Planet Hulk felt like it came out of nowhere during a time that Marvel comics really were great and it fuelled that masterpiece.

But the Son of Hulk storyline went downhill and setting a story a thousand years after seems like a stretch.

I’ll be looking for this. I love the Hulk. Greg Pak is a solid write AND Manuel Garcia is pretty much new to me. I’ve seen his work in Daredevil and I really love his style. He has a Mike Deodato Jr/ Alan Davis style. Beautiful art.

Setting it that much ahead of time could be end up being counter productive if they don't planned things well.
