Non-Stop Spider-Man reached an abrupt end, but writer Joe Kelly is set to return to the wall-crawler's world for follow-up series, Savage Spider-Man! Launching in February, Gerardo Sandoval will be on art duties for a story Marvel Comics says will feature Spider-Man like you’ve never seen him.

The limited series will see Spider-Man evolve into a monstrous new being as he finds himself on a wild journey filled with horror, savage thrills, and self-discovery. Now, we can see his beastly new form in all its terrifying glory in two all-new variant covers by superstar artists Mark Bagley and Ron Lim.

"What happens when Spider-Man loses all those things that make him a hero - his heart, his spirit, his mind? What's left? That's where we are left after the Immaculatum and Zemo had their way with Spidey in Non-Stop: a Spider moving on anger and instinct," Kelly says. "This chapter of the saga takes us to these places with Peter... I just hope there's something left in there to pull him back out."

The "Man-Spider" version of Spider-Man was introduced in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, but later made the leap into the comic books when the hero gained his organic webbing (that didn't last). This version appears to be inspired by that, but is a little more spider than man this time around.

Check out both variant covers for Savage Spider-Man #1 below:

Stop pretending Spiderman turning into an actual man sized spider is in anyway new.

@Origame - it's almost like they look for talented writers, bring them to the office and say "How would your version of this (blows dust off comic) be not as good, but different?"
Origame

@VictorAlonzo - now I've read current comics.

Talented writers isn't who they're looking for anymore.

@The1st - I think the only storyline more overused than this in Spiderman comics is literally just spidey vs venom.

@Origame - We've been at this point of Peter transitioning into a Spider so MAAAAANY times already (at least if feels like that)

@Blergh - I feel like there could be a new spin on it, like genuinely new powers or maybe he's partially/fully in control. But yeah, this ain't new.

I know it's pure 90's edge, but [frick] ME do I love Man-Spider ! I wish he'd appear in film or video games already...

@OrgasmicPotatoe - that would be nuts. Miles having to stop him at all costs. It needs to happen now.

Umm Man-Spider was first introduced in Marvel Fanfare #2.

Spidey goes to the Savage Land, gets captured by the mutates, and is turned into Man-Spider by Brainchild.

@IcePyke - I used to have the toy of that
“It’s an action figure”
No it ain’t, it’s a toy, cuz me and my cousin were playing em and my grandma says “big old teenagers, playing with toys” and I gave em all to my little cousin. And he didn’t take care of em but I held my peace, because I realized it’s hard enough to get girls. But man when I gave these two little kids my Legos and they mistreated them, that hurt my feelings. And then they spoiled snow white. Sure if seen it before but it was a long time ago. Like do t tell me what happens on requiem for a dream, I want to forget and watch it brand new, it’s been 10 years, another 10 oughta do it.

Writer of this article needs to learn to research . Man-Spider was introduced way before the 90’s cartoon.

What happens when Spider-Man loses all those things that make him a hero AGAIN - his heart, his spirit, his mind? What's left THIS TIME? That's where we are left after the Immaculatum and Zemo had their way with Spidey in Non-Stop: a Spider moving on anger and instinct AGAIN," Kelly says. "This chapter of the saga takes us to these places AGAIN with Peter... I just hope there's something left in there to pull him back out AGAIN."

Spidey's gone through all kinds of ridiculous incarnations, like the time he even briefly held the power cosmic, but to suggest that this take is new or original is a joke.

I haven't read many "modern" comics post 90's, but am getting caught up on a few on comiconlinefree.net, but I just can't get past the modern "cartoony"/anime look and more importantly, weak uninspired and unoriginal writing on most of them.

I guess I'm just old and old fashioned now, but give me the traditional characters I grew up with. It's ok to put a modern spin on some of the elements, but for me the core of the characters should basically remain the same.

@Feralwookiee - the power cosmic is one of the weirdest stories of spiderman I have read.

I like covers I may buy for cover nothing else marvel can’t decide what to do with spiderman anymore some spiderman villains are good but with reveal of there identity origin is dumb is marvel taking random ideas and out them together this is why I’m always dc more than marvel fan.,

How long since fans read book with kang in it only reason kang is books now because he’s in Loki series, dc no chance they make story’s that work if there’s red hood comic dc don’t randomly put Batman in every dc comic series there’s new batman movie comic out don’t work like that make books that work use characters that will make it work don’t TV movies excuse bring back old characters back into comics again how many years since kang made appearance in comics before Loki series.,

Now marvel is over doing it again with rob field drawing Deadpool on almost every cover of marvel comics be made no reason at all and most of those books do not have Deadpool in them at all make variant covers that work with story not sell books.,

Guy customer at comic store is right marvel is all over place with there books and there characters did same with Logan in 90 almost every marvel book was made Logan was in it some work some didn’t then venom then Deadpool now marvel is looking for next big character for people buy more comics again fight with venom and Deadpool again

I swear I've been here before with Peter???? This is why Alan Moore was right when he said a lot of these characters should have been retired years ago.
