DEADPOOL 3: A First Look At Wolverine's Comic-Accurate Mask Appears To Have Leaked Online

While Hugh Jackman's comic-accurate Wolverine costume in Deadpool 3 has already been revealed, a first look at the clawed mutant's mask now appears to have found its way online courtesy of promo art...

Comic book fans have waited literally decades to see Wolverine don his classic costume on screen, and after that big tease in The Wolverine over a decade ago, it's finally going to happen in Deadpool 3.

A first look at that threequel showed Hugh Jackman wearing Logan's yellow and blue suit, with a design pulled straight from the source material. However, the character's iconic mask was absent and plenty of fans initially expressed concerns it might not make it into the movie.

Since then, multiple scoopers have claimed otherwise, promising Wolverine will not only wear his mask but also tear off those sleeves to provide us with a truly comic-accurate look on screen.

Today, a first look at Wolvie's mask in Deadpool 3 appears to have leaked online. Shared by @CanWeGetToast, it seems to be a piece of promo art typically used for merchandising and manufacturer reference material (access to that would explain how many of these social media scoopers share costume details in advance).

While we can't share the image here, you can check it out at this LINK. Assuming it's real, that's beyond awesome.

We couldn't have hoped for a better design, particularly as the mask even has the white eyes from the comics. Once the X-Men and Wolverine are inevitably rebooted for the MCU, a new actor will take over from Jackman; however, it's hard not to wonder how Marvel Studios will ever be able to top this design.

Last year, Jackman said Wolverine and Deadpool are a "zero" in terms of compatibility, calling them "opposites" and saying that they "hate each other." The actor added, "He’s annoyed by him. [Wolverine is] frustrated by [Deadpool and] wants to be a million miles away from him or wants to punch him in the head."

"Unfortunately, he can’t be a million miles away from him in this movie, so I’m probably going to punch him in the head a lot."

Alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool franchise vets Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all confirmed to return in Deadpool 3.

Emma Corrin is expected to play Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen will likely take on the role of a TVA agent named Paradox. The trades have confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Wesley Snipes, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Dafne Keen, and even singer Taylor Swift among those rumoured to make cameo appearances.

Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.

Amazing if it's real, now officially no one will ever top Hugh in the role
DeadClunge
DeadClunge - 1/9/2024, 10:11 AM
@Saga - idk man I feel this has come too late. A comic accurate MCU wolverine could easily top old man Hugh in a comic accurate suit (providing they cast a good actor)
Origame
Origame - 1/9/2024, 10:12 AM
@Saga - still can't believe that one guy who said mcu namor looked more like the comic character than Hugh. Outside of height and the costume (which is fixed here), Hugh is perfect. Whereas mcu namor isn't even trying to look like the comics.
lazlodaytona
lazlodaytona - 1/9/2024, 10:18 AM
@Saga - It'll be hard to replace him. I mean, it's been difficult to replace Christopher Reeve on the big screen as Superman since '87 and he was only in 4 films.
Hugh has been in 9 films over a 2-decade span. I think it'll be very difficult to replace him.

@Origame -

winged feet✅️
pointy ears ✅️
green speedos✅️

Outside of his build (which wouldn't be easy to obtain) and eyebrows how is he not even trying to look like namor?
Origame
Origame - 1/9/2024, 10:27 AM
@AquaClunge - beard, face, build, race, weird head ornament thing.

And just because the build isn't easy to obtain doesn't mean they shouldn't try it. Mcu Scott Lang has a better more namor like build than mcu namor.

And even if you think these things are fine and close enough, you have to admit it's ridiculous to say it's closer than Hugh Jackman as wolverine.
LiteraryJoe
LiteraryJoe - 1/9/2024, 10:29 AM
@AquaClunge - You know that everyone who complains about Namor means his skin tone. Origame has some good points, but he prefers his movies in black and white. Throw too much brown in the mix and it gets people confused.
DeadClunge
DeadClunge - 1/9/2024, 10:33 AM
@Origame - I wouldn't say he's more comic accurate than Hugh but if you showed me pics of each in their full costume I'd know who they're supposed to be.
Saga
Saga - 1/9/2024, 10:33 AM
@AquaClunge - for me the beard, earrings and especially his boring haircut kill the look. I do like the collar but they should had at least give him the slicked back hair
Origame
Origame - 1/9/2024, 10:34 AM
@LiteraryJoe - oh get off that nonsense. Skin color is an objective difference. And a pretty major one at that.

If blade were suddenly played by Jason Statham, I'd have a problem with that. And yes, it has to do with his race. He looks nothing like blade.

Jesus, how can we be on a site that b!tches about superman keeping his red trunks yet insist skin color is irrelevant when it comes to someone looking like a particular character?
Jackraow21
Jackraow21 - 1/9/2024, 10:35 AM
@Saga - Agreed. He is the GOAT.
DeadClunge
DeadClunge - 1/9/2024, 10:35 AM
@LiteraryJoe - 😅😆😆 yeah I've had back and forths with him before. I know if the actor was white he'd have no issues with the other changes but it is what it is 😅
Origame
Origame - 1/9/2024, 10:35 AM
@AquaClunge - I mean, ok. I'll admit I could tell he was namor. But that's also a pretty low bar to set.
DeadClunge
DeadClunge - 1/9/2024, 10:36 AM
@Saga - I defo feel the ear and nose rings were a bit much but mainly due to the size of them 😅 the beard didn't bother me so much but each to their own I guess
Origame
Origame - 1/9/2024, 10:36 AM
@AquaClunge - f@#$ off with that, both of you. I literally pointed out if they made blade white I'd have a problem with it.

DeadClunge - 1/9/2024, 10:43 AM
@Origame - 🤣😅 your message wasn't there when I was replying to Joe but yeah if you say so lol
Slotherin
Slotherin - 1/9/2024, 10:45 AM
@Origame - both were made with a few deviations to the source but are ultimately clearly visually referencing them.

Jackman had a stripped down/grounded appearance and of course additional height.

Namor had some additional adornments and was slightly tanner.

Besides that you get the gist of who they are in a quick glimpse.
Slotherin
Slotherin - 1/9/2024, 10:50 AM
@Origame - because not everyone who thinks the skin color on a particular character is irrelevant also thinks Superman's red trunks are relevant..?
Gotta be careful when generalizing.
UniqNo
UniqNo - 1/9/2024, 10:54 AM
@Slotherin - I Often disagree with Origame, but he's not picking on the race here. Simply pointing out one aspect. I think they're both as recognisable as their comic counterparts.

Jackman however had had alot more time to make that long lasting impression.

I liked what they did with Namor for the record, and hope he comes back. BP Wakanda Forever is still one of the better releases post Endgame.
Variant
Variant - 1/9/2024, 10:59 AM
@Origame - But wait...I thought you said you "didn't see color". Didn't you claim to be "color blind"?
Variant
Variant - 1/9/2024, 11:02 AM
@UniqNo - I agree. The Namor live action adaptation is quite brilliant. He has so much more character than his comic book counterpart. And I personally loved how they wove in the cultural aspects.
UniqNo
UniqNo - 1/9/2024, 11:05 AM
@Variant - yeah exactly. IMO race swaps are OK if it actually helps add some cultural context or significance where there wasn't any before in the comics or otherwise.
Variant
Variant - 1/9/2024, 11:13 AM
@UniqNo - Especially when the race is fictional to begin with. Lol. Unless someone here knows a real life Atlantean who also by chance acts.
UniqNo
UniqNo - 1/9/2024, 11:16 AM
@Variant - Well in the comics wasn't he half? bet yeah, i get your point. Talocan now! lol
Origame
Origame - 1/9/2024, 11:21 AM
@Slotherin - don't give me that. These are objective changes to the designs of the characters. One (skin color) is just more overtime than the other (red trunks).
