DEADPOOL 3 Rumored To Feature The Return Of Unexpected Villain From 2000's X-MEN Movie

Deadpool 3 is shaping up to be a movie with more cameos than we can possibly keep track of, and a new rumour suggests one villainous mutant from 2000's X-Men will make their presence felt in the MCU...

Deadpool 3 rumours continue coming our way thick and fast, and like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness before it, we can't help but wonder whether those are setting up unrealistically high expectations among fans!

This latest supposed casting addition is a fun one, though, as we're hearing X-Men's Toad will make his return in the upcoming movie.

Played by Darth Maul actor Ray Park, Toad was introduced in the 2000 movie as a member of Magneto's Brotherhood. During the final battle, we saw just how formidable the mutant was when he squared off with Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm, and actually gained the upper hand.

However, Storm later electrocuted him with a lightning bolt and reeled off the now iconic, "Do you know what happens to a road when it's struck by lightning? The same thing that happens to everything else..." We never did find out whether Toad survived his fall from the Statue of Liberty.

The villain later returned in X-Men: Days of Future Past, with scenes set during the 1980s revealing he fought in Vietnam before returning home where he was inspired by Magneto's speech. In the 2014 movie, he was played by Evan Jonigkeit.

We don't know what the plan is for Toad in Deadpool 3 but this would be a fun cameo and one which gives Marvel Studios the opportunity to revisit his history with those early X-Men movies.

Deadpool 3 is expected to be a crucial chapter in the Multiverse Saga. The threequel is rumoured to feature the Merc with the Mouth and Wolverine rounding up a plethora of alternate reality heroes as the TVA sets out to create a "Noah's Ark" amid Kang's Multiversal War and countless incursions.

Alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool franchise vets Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all set to return in this threequel.

Emma Corrin is expected to play Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen will likely take on the role of a TVA agent named Paradox. It's also been confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Liev Schreiber, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen among the many names rumoured to appear.

Deadpool 3 is currently set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.
