DEADPOOL 3: Ryan Reynolds Appears To Tease Work On The Movie With Cryptic Photo Featuring The Merc's Mask

We know that Deapdool 3 is officially moving forward at Marvel Studios, and star Ryan Reynolds may have just teased plans for the movie with a cryptic Instagram post. Check it out after the jump...

We spent a long time wondering what the plan for the Merc with the Mouth in the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be, but it was recently confirmed that Bob's Burgers scribes Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin are penning Deadpool 3's screenplay. There's no word on a release date yet, but Ryan Reynolds will return as Wade Wilson for this shared world's first R-Rated adventure.

Now, Reynolds has shared a photo in his Instagram Stories that's got Deadpool fans very intrigued.

As you can see, the actor posted an image of the hero's mask in a bag, leaving us to speculate about what he's been up to. While we're expecting Deadpool's costume to undergo some changes in the threequel once Marvel Studios talented team of concept artists get to take a crack at the anti-hero, it seems Reynolds may have taken his classic mask to a meeting of some sort.

It's worth noting that there have been comic books revolving around Deadpool's severed head in the past, so there's a slim chance this could be the actor's attempt to tease his sequel plans. After all, it would be pretty cool to follow a popular MCU hero (in a desolate future?) forced to transport Wade's head for some reason; for now, that's just speculation on our part, of course.

Deadpool 3 has yet to receive a release date from Marvel Studios.

@bkmeijer - he could well play it into his 60s or 70s. the guy doesn't need to do the stunts. nor show his face much. He can literally phone it in and still get top billing.

The biggest crime was following up Days of Future Past with Apocalypse then Dark Phoenix set in the past

@abd00bie - for me days of Future past and Logan are the true finally of foxmen

@abd00bie - DoFP I think worked only because of the mix of legacy actors and the new ones with 3rd acts pacing. the story wasn't all that.

I don't think Dark Pheonix was that bad to be honest. If there wasn't such a delay and so much time for hype to build up we wouldn't have been as dissapointed. Much better than The Last Stand anyway.

@heyy1 - The last scene of DoFP with the original cast all back with a "good ending" is where I sign off, personally. I have a lot of affection for that cast, even if the movies were a little uneven. (Didn't really care for Logan, but different strokes.)

@Jaykay21 - I don't think Dark Phoenix's problem was that it was bad. Rather, I think it wasn't much of anything. It kind of felt like a filler arc. Pretty much just a pared-down A plot, not much for the ensemble cast to do, and most of the movie was in grounded real locations. Like the movie was made on a tighter budget (that I guess got ballooned in reshoots anyway).

If the rest of FoX-Men were consistently good, then I could take a movie like Dark Phoenix in stride. Not every movie in a franchise will be a home run. But because the best stuff in the franchise was happening over in a different universe anyway (Deadpool), it just makes me ask why bother making First Class sequels at all? Fox could have spent 200 million dollars on a "Miller-verse" X-Men reboot set in Deadpool's world instead. Instead, they went back to an underperforming cast and a proven lackluster and known-problematic creative team (twice-ish).

@heyy1 - First Class is better than DoFP. Mystiques powers being used for Sentinels over Rogues abilities made zero sense.

@Spock0Clock - Yeah, I like Logan but it's very much an Elseworlds/What If for me. Most of the X-Men died off screen, implied killed by Professor X who dies stabbed to death in bed, but most importantly, mutants have gone extinct, the ones that existed were hunted, Xavier's dream is a lie, and a couple human mutates are the only hope mutants MAY live on. It's a good film but goddamn that is a bleak ending for the X-Men. DoFP's is much better as an ending to the franchise. All it was missing was a reveal that they wear the comic book costumes and Scott saying, "What, you were expecting black leather?"

@Spock0Clock - same honestly, didn't want the Logan crowd to come after me.

Hope it’s not just Deadpool coming back… we need the entire supporting cast too. Dopinder, Vanessa, Cable, and at least Cable.

I wonder how they’ll do Colossus & Negasonic… it sucks to say, but they’re probably not gonna come back

I have to know if that magazine in the bottom right is any kind of tease. Knowing Reynolds he'd do something like that or it can just be naturally on his table lmao.

Either way, I am beyond excited for him to be in the MCU now.
