DEADPOOL 3 Star Ryan Reynolds Responds To Recent Set Photo Leaks; Says Movie "Is Built For Audience Joy"

In recent days, some very spoilery Deadpool 3 set photos have found their way online, prompting star Ryan Reynolds to now weigh in and share his disappointment with some of the surprising leaking early.

Earlier this year, Marvel Studios released a first official look at the Merc with the Mouth and Wolverine suited up and side-by-side in Deadpool 3. They did so because shooting was about to move to a location the paparazzi could get close to, leaving the studio with no other choice than to beat those photographers to the punch.

With the Hollywood strikes now over, cameras are once again rolling on the threequel and that means even more shots from set have found their way online.

As a result, [SPOILER WARNING] we've seen the return of X-Men's Sabretooth and Toad, along with a TVA agent and various vehicles - including a comic-accurate Fantasticar - from the Marvel Universe's history. We've spoiler-tagged everything here on ComicBookMovie.com, but some sites and social media pages haven't been anywhere near as considerate.

Now, Ryan Reynolds has chimed in with a statement first shared on Instagram.

"Surprises are part of the magic of theatrical movies. It's important for us to shoot the new DEADPOOL film in real, natural environments, using practical effects as opposed to making the movie indoors and digitally. Telephoto lenses continue to spoil surprises and create a difficult situation for everyone."

"Here's hoping some of the websites and social channels hold back showing images before they're ready. The film is built for audience joy -- and our highest hope is to preserve as much of that magic as possible for the finished film and the big screen. Part of the reason people post spoilers is because they're excited. I realize these aren't real world issues and it's firmly in the 'good problems' bucket."

"I love making this movie."

It's easy enough to see why those involved with Deadpool 3 might be disappointed that these surprises have been revealed in advance, but all they've really done is get fans more excited. Plus, if Sabretooth and Toad are the movie's biggest shockers, then this thing is in trouble (fortunately, we've heard these latest snaps barely scratch the surface of what's on the way).

Check out Reynolds' statement in full below.

Alongside Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool franchise vets Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), and Rob Delaney (Peter) are all set to return in this threequel.

Emma Corrin is expected to play Cassandra Nova, while Matthew Macfadyen will likely take on the role of a TVA agent named Paradox. It's also been confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Wesley Snipes, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Dafne Keen, and even singer Taylor Swift among those rumoured to appear.

Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.

Usually hate that approach, as it's pandering and not what audiences actually want (even if they think it is), but maybe that's what we need right now in these times.

He shouldn’t worry. Those kind of photos do nothing but hype people up for the teaser….then the trailer…..then the release.

It’s all a part of excitement.

@JustAWaffle - Some leaks and rumours cause harm if they excessively raise expectations such that even a good end product can feel a let down...

...with DP we kinda know what we are getting to an extent with always going to be a lot of Easter eggs, meta referencs and cameos likely to be short in almost all cases (like all the Xmen closing a door after a sneak peak of them in the mansion/school) and/or a lot killed off fast like most his team he recruited in DP 2.

A Mad Max/Waxky races element being revealed to be in at least one scene in the film is more the increase hype than any excess expectations type thing in this specific instance with this specific film I feel. I'd rather they keep us guessing with major character appearance however if and how much they factor in. I don't count Toad and Sabretooth on the list of major characters in terms of their significance in the Fox movies, others may differ in opinion on that obviously.

I wonder if they’ll pay for a Super Bowl spot, everyone will be watching, it’s the perfect opportunity, to be honest.

@Timerider - People still watch football?

@LiteraryJoe - very much so... only the #1 sport to watch in the US and only a few billion viewers for the superbowl sooooo yea

@MotherGooseUPus - But, to be fair, the Super Bowl isn’t about football, right? Isn’t it mainly about halftime show and commercials? People here get more excited about college rivalries than the actual teams that go to the Super Bowl.

@LiteraryJoe - for the casual viewer, yes. for someone who actually likes football... then i actually watch for the game. if the game sucks ass then i watch the game but am more excited to drink and watch the commercials

@MotherGooseUPus - I hate to break it to you, but the Super Bowl doesn't have a few billion viewers. Even the FIFA World Cup finale (i.e. the real football) didn't get to few billion with it's 1.5 billion viewers

@LiteraryJoe - The only good halftime show in the last 10 years was the 90’s rappers from a few years ago. Most halftime shows suck and it’s a good opportunity to step away from the TV a bit.

The commercials have been pretty underwhelming in recent years and I also use those times for TV breaks. Any of the small handful of good ones will be available to watch online.

If there is a good trailer, the watch party In at is typically too loud to pay attention to it so I’ll watch it online after the game.

I’m glad I don’t hang out with any “halftime and commercials” super bowl people. That sounds really lame.

@MotherGooseUPus - there has never even been 200 million viewers for a half time show recorded much less 2 billion.

I truly miss the days when there were NO spoilers and i would be pleasantly surprised during a trailer (no teasers, those werent a thing) and then going to the theater and being even more happy and surprised when something shocked me cuz i had no idea it was coming

@MotherGooseUPus - We do this to ourselves. You can avoid this stuff. It would just take avoiding sites like this and not following social media/ YouTube accounts that share this stuff.

I bet a lot of the GA can stay ignorant to these types of leaks.
