DEADPOOL 3's Main Villain Said To Be An Established MCU Character - Possible SPOILERS

Some new details on Deadpool 3 have been shared by a reliable source, and it sounds like the threequel's main villain is going to be a familiar face from the Marvel Cinematic Universe...

The recent Deadpool 3 set photos made it very clear that the Merc With a Mouth (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) are going to come to blows in the threequel, but we know that the mismatched pair will ultimately join forces to face a bigger threat, and it sounds like said villain is going to be a familiar face.

Though she doesn't mention the character's name, reliable scooper @MyTimeToShineHello is claiming that the primary antagonist of Deadpool 3 is going to be someone we've already encountered in the MCU.

If you immediately jumped to Wanda/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) - who is rumored to factor into the story - that was also our first guess, but there have been conflicting reports about the character's involvement in the movie. Recent plot leaks have also been called into question, but if there is any truth to them, Loki's Judge Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) might be a more likely candidate.

Another popular theory doing the rounds online points to Ultron (James Spader) making his long-awaited return.

Deadpool 3 is shaping up to be a far more wide-reaching dive into the Multiverse than we first realized, so there are numerous other possibilities, but be sure to share your theories in the comments down below.

Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Rob Delaney (Peter), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) And Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) will all return as their respective characters, and they'll be joined by franchise newcomers Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), whose roles are still under wraps.

We recently learned that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra.

Plot details also remain a mystery for now, but Wade and Wolvie are expected to find themselves (trapped?) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A recent rumor claimed that Loki's TVA, including Agent Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Miss Minutes, will be involved. We have also been led to believe that Wade's MCU debut will be far more integral to Phase 5 and beyond than we first realized.

Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool 3, which is set to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.

Probably shouldn’t spoil this… But it’s going to be Robert Downey Jr.

But not Robert Downey, Jr., playing Tony Stark. It’s going to be Robert Downey, Jr., playing Robert Downey, Jr..

In an attempt to get people to stop wasting money on Souless, comic book, movies and start seeing great films like Oppenheimer, Robert Downey, Jr. has gone insane and is planning to destroy the entire MCU and now it’s up to Deadpool and Logan to save cinematic universe

🙃🙃🙂🙂

I am going to go with Kang. If he is going to be the next Thanos they need to rebuild his street cred...and also he figures prominently in "time" based stories.

@Forthas - It may very well be 838 Wanda though. I'd imagine that universe is going to come after her assuming she was in control of her body. And maybe 616 Wanda can sense that 838 Billy and Tommy have been taken for interrogation and are scared so 616 Wanda dreamwalks into 838 Wanda again and completely wrecks havoc which is where Phoenix and Scarlet Witch will battle while Wade and Wolverine get pruned.

Guys guys guys (and gals) I think you're all missing the most obvious choice: Todd from "She-Hulk". Ow! Hey! Stop throwing things! Hey! Ouch! Stop! Was that a butcher knife?!? Who threw that?!?

You're making fun, but have you "seen" the characters Marvel Studios uses for their villains? It's a shitshow.

I wouldn't be shocked if what you said was right! These dickheads are trying to use Agatha fukcing Harkness as a goddammit lead character for Christ sakes. Nevermind that she was used as a villain. They hate the idea of a villain as a formidable threat. Marvel Studios superheroes face more danger talking to their friends....

@videovac - Talking to their... SuperFriends? I kid, I kid. Anyhow, sorry for the late response but I've been busy. Anyhow, I agree that the MCU's villains have been hit or miss, but for me it's been more "hit" than "miss" (obviously your mileage has varied and that's totally cool). The one thing that I think that we have to keep in mind is that Marvel is Disney and Disney is... Disney. So they have a very broad audience and naturally with Marvel they're still going to want to try to appeal to the widest audience as possible, so I think that's why to date we haven't seen a lot of truly deep, dark, scary villains (although I think that Thanos and the like were pretty hardcore with the whole "killing half of the universe" thing). Now that Marvel will be dipping their big toe into the "R-rated pool" with "DP3" hopefully if that goes well we may soon see some more hardcore villains, particularly in the street-level and supernatural shows and movies (i.e. "Punisher", "Midnight Sons", etc.).

Regarding them elevating supporting characters to getting their own limited series, I se where you are coming from, particularly in the case of "Agatha" and "Echo". I think that shows like those started off from the "Chapek Era" where the mandate was to churn out as much MCU content ASAP and so whenever they had a character from a series that resonated with the fans the said "Ah-ha! Get them their own show ASAP!". I since think (hope) that the shows that remain for these side characters are there to serve a purpose, such as to either introduce new characters building up to "A:SW" (i.e. "Wonder-Man") or to bridge between/lead up to something bigger (i.e. "Echo" supposedly setting up "DD:BA").

Anyhow, that's just my take. Obviously you have a harsher take than I do, but I respect your opinion and wanted to offer my response. Cheers!

Doing Scarlet Witch would just be a poor repeat of what we just already had in Multiverse of Madness. Not saying it would be bad, but we don't need to tackle that again in a less fulfilling way (as far as her personal progression went in that film).
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 7/26/2023, 2:10 PM
@MosquitoFarmer - Why wouldn't her returning add more layer to her protecting a version of Billy and Tommy that need her? She may dreamwalk into another Wanda to protect her children.

On another note...I would love to see Marvel venture into the martial arts genre again with a more sprawi=ling and epic storyline. They center it on a fued between the Chinese based "Ten Rings"

...and the Japanese base "The Hand"
