Despite Original Actor Turning Down Role, DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Will Still Feature A [SPOILER] Variant

We recently learned that X-Men: The Last Stand star Vinnie Jones turned down the chance to return as Juggernaut in Deadpool & Wolverine, but a new rumour claims a Variant of the iconic villain will appear.

Given the limitations of VFX in 2006, the decision was made for Vinnie Jones to don a practical costume and prosthetics to play Juggernaut in X-Men: The Last Stand. The result, unfortunately, was not great.

Back in March, the actor was quoted as saying, "Funnily enough, I just got asked to do Deadpool, the new one, and I spoke to the director, and I just said it's such a drama putting that suit on."

"It had its mental toll, as well, because you're in it and you can't do anything all day. You can only drink through a straw," Jones continued. "So we couldn't strike the deal for Deadpool [& Wolverine]."

Despite that, scooper @MyTimeToShineH is today claiming that Deadpool & Wolverine will feature a Juggernaut Variant. It's possible that Jones has been enlisted to play a CG version of the villain more in line with the comics, though it doesn't seem likely given his comments above.

However, a Juggernaut Variant did appear in Deadpool 2 with the fully CG character portrayed by none other than Ryan Reynolds! Perhaps it's that version we'll see in the upcoming threequel? We'll see, but we're expecting heaps of surprises either way and we'd be remiss not not mention the fact Cain Marko is Professor X and Cassandra Nova's stepbrother!

"The impact was real," director Shawn Levy recently told the Associated Press about the impact last year's strikes had on the movie. "For me as the director, and the producer, the multi-month pause happened right in the middle of filming. All I could do was edit and review the footage. But it taught me about my movie, and it really revealed what was working and what the movie wanted to be."

"It really focused our work and I think improved our work in the second half," the filmmaker added. "That’s not a luxury we ever get in live-action filmmaking."

Shawn Levy directs Deadpool & Wolverine, which stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen. The movie is written by Ryan Reynolds & Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Zeb Wells & Shawn Levy.

The trades have confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Wesley Snipes, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Dafne Keen, Channing Tatum, Blake Lively and, as we mentioned above, even singer Taylor Swift among those rumoured to make an appearance.

Kevin Feige, Reynolds, Levy and Lauren Shuler Donner produce with Louis D’Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, George Dewey, Simon Kinberg and Jonathon Komack Martin serving as executive producers.

Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters on July 26.

Just use the one from Deadpool 2?

@SonOfAGif - Give him a little more personality and it’d work.

@SonOfAGif - Yeah, that version is much comic-book accurate than Vinnie Jones' one

He’s going to be the post credit scene. He’s going to come rocketing through the X-men mansion ceiling(like Hulk in Avengers: Infinity War) and he’s going to have a hole in his chest and say “Onslaught’s coming”, **Fade to black** MINDS BLOWN.
There you have it, now you don’t have to see Deadpool 3. 😂

@WruceBayne - nah. He's gonna come in with hulk and Deadpool will ask "what are we, some kind of avengers vs xmen?"

Or use the dude that was suppose to play Juggernaut in DOFP who ended up playing Striker instead

@HammerLegFoot - they used Quicksilver instead of juggernaut right? Wasn’t Juggernaut originally supposed to break Magneto out of prison?

@WruceBayne - Yup!

It could be the Deadpool 2 version of the character which could be a nice tie-in to the previous movie…

However , i most likely think it will just be a random variant with a stuntman that is a blink & miss appearance at most…

Will probably be part of Cassandra Nova’s army in The Void.

Yeah it would be odd to revisit that version of Vinnie Jones Juggernaut when they had such a comic accurate and overall better version of him in Deadpool 2.

It would be like if a Spider-Man movie had a new take on Sandman only to go back to the Thomas Haden church version in a sequel. Oh wait…

I wonder how they address Cable, seems a little odd that he’s nowhere to be found so far

@Ha1frican - maybe him and Domino have started their own mercenary business?

I hope they are addressed aswell though.

@Ha1frican - he might show up, we really don’t know yet. He does use time travel, so anything is possible.

@Ha1frican - wouldn't he have returned to his family, wasn't that what he was fighting for that Deadpool gave him back?
The only reason Deadpool is fighting in DP3 is that he wants to keep his family safe, otherwise, he was retired.

I think they probably did want to use Vinnie Jones version for a gag (because cmon, its a terrible version), that´s why he not accepted the role. So, its pretty easy, just go with full CGI RR Juggernaut
