There's a
Beauty and the Beast prequel series in the works for the Disney+ streaming service, but it won't focus on either of that movie's main characters.
THR reports that the live-action spin-off will serve as an origin story for Gaston and LeFou, with Luke Evans and Josh Gad set to reprise their roles from the 2017 smash-hit.
Once Upon a Time creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz are on board as showrunners, with Gad down as co-creator, writer and showrunner.
The show is described as a "six-episode musical event," and the film's composer Alan Menken is also in talks to return. Emma Watson and Dan Stevens are not currently attached, but there is a chance they could "pop in for a guest spot."
LeFou and Gaston were certainly an entertaining aspect of the movie, so this does have potential - although we'e not sure how interesting a
Beauty and the Beast prequel story focusing on a narcissistic asshole and his infatuated sidekick will be.
