Reports are coming in that Warner Bros. has pushed Andy Serkis' Jungle Book: Origins (which will feature the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Naomie Harris) back almost a year, with the performance-capture heavy adaptation now hitting theaters on 6 October 2017. Gerard Butler's Geostorm will take its original release date of Oct. 21, 2016. Iron Man director Jon Favreau's version for Disney will be a a CG/live-action hybrid starring Bill Murray, Christopher Walken, Scarlett Johansson and Idris Elba, and that arrives in the US on 9 October 2015, and the UK on 16 October 2015. Here is some official concept art from that, featuring Mowgli and Bagheera the panther.

So I take it that this will devolve into 10+ pages of comments of a war between Marvel and DC even though I'm pretty sure the [frick]ing Jungle Book isn't a DC property?

Just another day.

@Doopie

It just makes business sense to not have two jungle book movies in one year...

@Dev7

WB takes plenty of risks. Theyre taking the audience perspective of them not wanting two see two Jungle Book movies in the same year. It makes sense

Probably, but at least there's no Mantinium to bring his dumbass ramblings around. So it might not last that long.

@Dev7 and this is why you're not a movie executive. Pushing the movie back isn't cowardly, its smart business sense. They have no reason to almost assuredly lose half of their audience to the competitors movie when they can just hold off and make the more money in 2017. WB plans for the longhaul, which is why they're an unbelievably successful company. Get with it.

@MisterBatfleck Did I say dc?! No, I said wb! It was YOU that brought up dc dude, not me. This has nothing to do with dc, which is why my comment was directed at wb. Insecure much?

I'm guessing Walken is Kaa, ScarJo is Rakasha, Elba is Bagheera and Murray is Baloo.

Sweet.

So is Disney going to just start remaking all of their classic animated films into big budget CGI/Live action films? Alice in wonderland, Cinderella, maleficent, jungle book, Tarzan....... This is getting ridiculous
fahQman
fahQman - 12/12/2014, 6:33 AM
@echinsuocha How is it "ridiculous?" There's obviously a market for those films, they make tons of money, people love them, but yeah you're right it's "ridiculous." SMH

@echinsuocha

You're gonna see a lot of studios begin to make versions of classic literature. A lot of old literature has become public domain recently, so any studio can up and make a movie about these properties. There are no exclusive rights anymore.

If I was talking to you, I would have tagged your name like I'm doing right now dipshit. I wasn't referring to just you, I was referring to the fact that even though his has nothing to do with Dc or Marvel some idiots will still find a way to start a war. Though I wonder why you thought I was talking about you, insecure much?

I love that the jungle book is getting a live action movie but these studios need to go for more movies that are original concepts not remakes and further the movie making process. (inception, Interstellar, black swan, etc...) there can be plenty of fresh new concepts and stories also there are plenty of great books that have not been made into films yet we are stuck with 3 cindirella movies 2 jungle books, like 20 peter pan movies 100 Tarzan movies I mean unless you use the characters and give me a completely different story then stay away from it and give me some fresh materials
