After starring in 2016's Doctor Strange it seems that Chiwetel Ejiofor is becoming comfortably entrenched within the Disney family we'll next see Ejiofor as Scar in Jon Favreau's Lion King and according to a recent report from The Hashtag Show, the actor may well join another Disney project.

Ejiofor is apparently in discussions to appear in the live-action fantasy sequel Maleficent 2, according to THS the role will be a potential romantic foil for Angelina Jolie's titular character and if confirmed it will see the Serenity actor join other new cast members; Michele Pfeiffer and Ed Skrein.

The sequel will be helmed by Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides director Joachim Rønning from a screenplay by Edge of Tomorrow writer Jez Butterworth and returning scribe Linda Woolverton.

Maleficent 2 has no current release date set.

I enjoyed Maleficent way more than what I thought I would after my daughters recommendation.

Great cast so far😁

Haven't really been that impressed with the live-action Disney remakes so far. IMO, The Jungle Book has been the only good one

Alice in Wonderland (2010) - Meh
Maleficent (2014) - Mediocre
Cinderella (2015) - Mediocre
The Jungle Book (2016) - Pretty Good
Beauty & the Beast (2016) - Just Good

In production, still to be released:

Christopher Robin - 8/3/2018
Mary Poppins Returns - 12/25/2018
Dumbo - 3/29/2019
Aladdin - 5/24/2019
The Lion King - 7/19/2019
Mulan - 3/27/2020

Announced, but still in early stages of production (if at all):

The Jungle Book Sequel - No release date
The Sword in the Stone - No release date
Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs - No release date
Prince Charming (Snow White) - No release date
Cruella (101 Dalmatians) - No release date (Emma Stone attached to star)
Peter Pan - No release date
"Tink" (Tinkerbell film) - No release date (Reese Witherspoon attached to star)
Pinocchio - No release date
Little Mermaid - No release date (Lin-Manuel Miranda writing)
Lady & the Tramp - No release date
James and the Giant Peach - No release date
Chip n' Dale - No release date
Chernabog (from Fantasia) - No release date

Now that's a lot of films.

@L0RDbuckethead - Wow. And people think DC Films is just planning stuff. That is a massive list of films, and I don't know how many will get release dates, especially after this one bombs. I don't think anyone's going to fall for the same trick twice. Unless they flat out confirm that the previous film didn't happen and this is the real story of the bringer of evil, I don't see this film breaking even, let alone making what its predecessor did.

@L0RDbuckethead - I liked Cinderella, and how they added dimension to both her and the prince, and I LOVED The Jungle Book. Alice was OK. Beauty and the Best was OK. Maleficent was terrible. I can explain in great detail how Zack Snyder got Superman near spot on. However, even if he got him wrong, as everyone claims, Linda Woolverton redefined how bad you can screw up a character. Aside from Angelina Jolie being born for the part, and the look, she isn't remotely Maleficent.

@SisterSunday52 - Difference between that and DC films is that most (if not all) of these Disney films will actually see the light of day.

@L0RDbuckethead - I commented about how I’m excited to see a few of these come to light and it got deleted🤷🏽‍♂️ Seems to be a “thing” with someone on this site.

@ChangAlang - Yeah, I disagree with the Mods allowing a lot of these "power users" to delete comments and such.

It's a form of censorship and *some* of the people have been abusing their power. Now, it hasn't happened to me, personally, as I try to keep it civil on here, but I've definitely noticed it and seen people complaining about their comments getting deleted.

@L0RDbuckethead -
Is that what's happening?
I know a couple of my comments have been deleted.

@L0RDbuckethead -
I doubt everything on this list gets made.

@Battabing - Supposedly. It hasn't been happening to me but I've seen a few complaints in the comments section today.

@L0RDbuckethead - As I’m unsure of how the whole “report comment” works behind closed doors I’d hope that if it’s just someone spamming that button they get found out soon. Same goes if it’s one of the power users or main contributors.

I’m not that bothered as I try to be as respectful to others on here as possible.

Anyway, one item you mentioned above was Chip n’ Dale. My gosh I’d be one of the first through the gate if that got made haha

L0RDbuckethead - 5/4/2018, 8:43 PM
@ChangAlang - Yeah, that'd be really sweet. I heard it was going to be a mix of live-action and CGI. So Chip n' Dale would be CGI and the rest would be live-action.

Unfortunately there hasn't been an update on that film in like 3-4 years, so it may be all but dead.
