New RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON Trailer Finally Gives Us A Proper Look At Awkwafina's Sisu

Raya and the Last Dragon is set to hit theaters and Disney+ (with premiere access) on March 5, and a brand new trailer for the animated fantasy adventure has now been released online.

The teaser begins with Raya (Star Wars: The Last Jedi's Kelly Marie Tran) and her trusty sidekick Tuk Tuk (who starts out tiny before growing much bigger) giving chase to a "con baby," before joining up with a group of fellow warriors on a quest to track down the last dragon in an effort to unite Raya's people and restore peace to the land.

Up until now we've only seen brief glimpses of titular dragon Sisu (Shang-Chi actress Awkwafina), but we get to see the beautiful creature in all her glory here.

The brief synopsis tells us that, "Raya and her trusty steed Tuk Tuk must leave their Heart Lands home and track down the last dragon to help stop the villainous Druun."

Raya and the Last Dragon is directed by Don Hall (Big Hero 6) and Carlos López Estrada (Blindspotting), with a script co-written by Qui Nguyen and Adele Lim. The rest of the voice cast features Gemma Chan, Daniel Dae Kim, Benedict Wong, Thalia Tran and Izaac Wang.

Sisu the Dragon. I wonder where they got the name.

The animation and action look epic. Don't know how I feel about sneaking in a school project joke in this setting. But yea, looks pretty.

But premier access? Yikes.

@WakandanQueen - Yeah, that line felt kind of unfitting. Do they have school projects like we do in that place and time period?

I saw a tweet saying this movie was originally rated R by the MPAA's standards. Like there was a scene where bones get broken, and that alone got it an R rating, so they had to go back to the drawing board.

@KWilly

I saw that article, too. Had to be an earlier cut of the script. No way they’d animate an R-rated movie under Disney in its final stages.

@regularmovieguy - I mean, they could have animated the bone snapping scene without knowing it would receive an R-rating, then change that particular scene.

Absolutely not pc, Sisu should be voiced by a real dragon

This film is the love child of Mulan and Moana, and I’m completely fine with that

Having watched Crazy Rich Asians for the first time yesterday, I realized just how annoying Awkwafina's voice is.
