The upcoming Willow Disney+ series recently suffered a setback with the loss of pilot director Jon M. Chu, but it looks like things are still very much on track, as the show continues to round out its cast.
Deadline reports that Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: Far From Home, The Grand Budapest Hotel) is in negotiations for a key role opposite previously announced leads Ellie Bamber, Cailee Spaeny and Erin Kellyman.
No details on his character were provided, but there's a chance he'll play the guy who's said to "echo" Val Kilmer's Madmartigan from the movie; "A thief and liar, he joins the quest in exchange for getting out of prison."
Specific plot details are still under wraps, but the series is said to revolve around "a group on a mission to save a kidnapped prince."
Bamber will play Dove, who's described as "an unassuming kitchen maid who proves that she is the “chosen one” as she embarks on the journey. Spaeny will join her as Kit, "the princess whose twin brother was abducted. She is destined to be a leader and ultimately the queen." Finally, Kellyman's Jade is "a servant who is Kit’s best friend and moral compass. She is on her way to becoming the best young warrior in the kingdom."
Warwick Davis (Star Wars) is set to reprise the title role of Willow Ufgood, with Jonathan Kasdan (Solo), who also wrote the pilot, and Wendy Mericle (Arrow) serving as showrunners. Howard will executive produce.
Willow is scheduled to begin production in Wales at some point this year.
