As a Thanksgiving treat, Disney has debuted the first teaser trailer for Jon Favreau's highly-anticipated remake of The Lion King!

Taking its inspiration from the now iconic teaser for the original movie, this first look at the live-action(?) retelling begins with the unmistakable voice of James Earl Jones as Mufasa as he narrates the stunning opening shots. We then see Rafiki making his way over to Simba, before holding the cub aloft to be greeted by his future subjects.

Unlike the original trailer, this holds off on giving us a full blast of Tim Rice's Circle of Life, instead opting for a final shot of Mufasa roaring across The Pride Lands.

Check out the teaser below along with a poster, and let us know what you think. The Lion King will be with us next July.

Wasn't much teased, but it's better than nothing. Rafiki looked good from what I saw. Same for the others.

I'm pretty surprised they got Beyonce. She couldn't say no to that Disney money.

Didn't they just release a Dumbo Trailer? And then an Aladdin one? They're really stepping up live action production.

I know a lot of people mindlessly hate on these remakes - but I don't care, this looks good. The narration gave me chills, and the CGI is so amazing. Jungle Book's was already lifelike, and this may be even better.

And Simba is so adorable as a baby.

@GoldGuy - I mean the narration gave me chills 24 years ago. I just don't get the live action remake thing. The originals are beautifully animated movies. These versions look dated the year after they come out.

@CuddlyCereal - You're thinking of early 2000s CGI. This CGI looks so realistic that I'm pretty sure it'll hold up for a long time.

@CuddlyCereal - "I just don't get the live action remake thing"
three words: China's Box Office.

@GoldGuy - I just hope it's not a shot for shot remake of the cartoon, which is what it looks like to me so far.

At first I was like 'wow' and than I thought about how Indiana Jones 5 was supposed to have that release date and now I'm like 'ow'.

Anyway looks good I guess but I'm concerned about how the emotions will come across with the ultra-realistic looking animals as a opposed to the original more animated ones.
