For many viewers, Ismael Cruz Córdova proved to be one of the highlights of Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, bringing dignity and intensity to the role of Elven hero, Arondir.
The part is sure to have opened up a few more doors for the actor, and it sounds like a stint in the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be in his future. While speaking to Variety, Cordova revealed that Marvel Studios has been in touch about potentially bringing him on board: "I have a very good relationship with the Marvel casting directors.”
The Ray Donovan alum also noted that he was in the running to play Adam Warlock in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 before Will Poulter ultimately nabbed the gig.
“I really wanted that one, but Will Poulter looks amazing doing it so I’m not mad. But that was a hard one because I love that whole storyline.”
Cordova didn't mention any of the character he may or may not have spoken to the studio about, but if he had his pick, he'd be very interested in playing Hector Ayala, aka White Tiger.
“I think that’s just another character that’s just fantastic,” he says. “I love characters that are improbable heroes that are people that have got the worst deck dealt. That is my story. And I find that is many of our stories. And life is not just this little journey of redemption. How many of us were bullied? How many of us were poor? How many of us cast away? How many of our identities were something that you couldn’t be. A lot of us got cards that were a bad deck.”
