THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER - Darkness Reigns In New Episode 7 Preview

Following the explosive events of Friday's new episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Prime Video has debuted a teaser promo for next week's sure-to-be eventful instalment...

Are we finally going to meet Sauron?

The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power just delivered its most action-packed and explosive (literally) episode yet with "Udûn," and Prime Video (via SFFGazette.com) has now shared a teaser for next Friday's sure-to-be eventful instalment.

Major spoilers for episode 6 follow.

Just when all seemed to be going well for Galadriel, Arondir, Halbrand and the Númenorians, we learned that Adar (who confirms his origin to Galadriel) had pulled a bait-and-switch, giving the sinister sword hilt to the traitorous Waldreg to carry back to the watchtower.

Placing what we now know to be a key into the statue of Sauron, the floodgates opened and water flowed beneath the Southlands (so that's why the Orcs were digging tunnels), causing the long-dormant Mount Doom to erupt.

We're given a glimpse of the aftermath here, as Galadriel awakens to find the entire area covered in red ash; The Southlands will soon be known as Mordor.

This obviously opens the door to The Dark Lord making his presence felt, but don't be surprised if they hold off on that big reveal for the season finale.

The rest of the promo spotlights Durin and Elrond attempting to convince the former's father to allow them to mine for Mithril (we know that doesn't end well), and Nori's apparent mistrust of The Stranger following the re-emergence of his dark power last week.

Amazon Studios’ forthcoming series brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.

Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power stars Morfydd Clark, Benjamin Walker, Charles Edwards, Charlie Vickers, Markella Kavenagh, Nazanin Boniadi, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Tyroe Muhafidin, Maxim Baldry, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Leon Wadham, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.
