Rumors relating to Marvel Studios' plans for Ghost Rider on the big screen have been doing the rounds since before Gabriel Luna was cast as Robbie Reyes on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but we've been hearing more whispers over the past few months since the studo fully regained the rights, and this latest report is claiming that the Spirit of Vengeance might be making his MCU debut sooner than expected.
According to That Hashtag Show, a new incarnation of Johnny Blaze is set to make a cameo appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. They don't share many other details, but claim to have seen some concept art featuring the character.
The Doctor Strange sequel is expected to visit various alternate timelines and realities, so it would be the perfect place to introduce a horror-tinged antihero like Ghost Rider if the plan is to eventually give him his own movie/series. That doesn't mean we should put too much stock in this rumor (the source has had some big scoops pan out in the past), but it's certainly worth keeping an eye on.
Plot details for Doctor Strange 2 are still under wraps, but the title obviously suggests that the alternate reality-spanning Multiverse will play a big part. Benedict Cumberbatch will return as the Master of the Mystic Arts, and he'll be joined by Benedict Wong as Wong, Rachel McAdams as Dr. Christine Palmer, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo. New additions include Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, and Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez.
Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness is set to hit theaters on March 25, 2022.
