Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 has finally made it to theaters after Director James Gunn being (temporarily) fired and the pandemic delaying filming and production. It has been a bumpy ride to the big screen but all the characters are back for one final farewell.

A lot of Marvel movies and shows have gotten a more critical reception in phase 4 and 5 due to various issues from coming off the high of Endgame, to introducing new characters, to starting a new arc after 10 years, or dealing with pandemic complications. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 however seems to recapture the magic of the pre-2020 Marvel films. In this video from Journey Through Cinema, we will be taking a look at what is the secret ingredient that made the MCU such a box office powerhouse and how did this final film from James Gunn recapture the magic.

In Marvel Studios “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3” the gang of a**holes are back and trying to build a home on Knowhere. Their life is upended when Adam Warlock arrives to capture Rocket and return him to The High Evolutionary who created, experimented, and tortured him. Quill must rally his team to save his best friend- all while coming back in conflict with Gamora, his old flame- in a mission that may end the Guardians as we know them.

Everyone dogs on Phases 4 and 5, but if they followed the formula of the Infinity Saga then everyone would just be saying how they're retreading old territory. People just need to criticize no matter how foolish it sounds.

@elcapitan - I agree, but also most of this video is focused on Marvel's steller character work through the first three phases. Regardless of how you approach a new phase, I would hope to see the same great character development and inter-character growth across new sagas.
