James Gunn Teases Cosmic Beings 'Bigger Than Thanos' In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
Commenting on Celestials and Guardians of the Galaxy's cosmic scope, director James Gunn drops a hint that we'll see characters even bigger than the Machiavellian villain Thanos. Check it out
In the latest issue of Badass Digest's BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH magazine, director James Gunn talks about the scope of Guardians of the Galaxy, among other things. Although Knowhere, the giant floating head of a Celestial, has already been glimpsed in recent trailers, Gunn confirms, "We have a couple of Celestials who we refer to in the film. They’re part of the overall structure of the cosmic universe. They’re part of the fun of what the movie is." James Gunn then teased that we'll see other cosmic entities even bigger than the mad titan Thanos in the Marvel space epic. "Our characters, to some degree, have super powers, but at the same time they’re just ordinary citizens of the galaxy," he said. "They just happen to be renegades - they’re basically bikers. They’re just these ordinary citizens who get caught up in this thing - because they want money in the beginning - that has completely cosmic overtones. There are characters like Thanos involved, and then there are characters bigger than that. Suddenly these mortals are playing in the fields of gods. I always find that a very interesting thing." There's more exclusive Guardians of the Galaxy interviews in the BIRTH.MOVIES.DEATH magazine. What do you think?
