36 years after he haunted the Maitland's dream home, Betelgeuse (yes, that's how his name is actually spelled) will return to our screens next September.
We've been hearing about a possible sequel to Tim Burton's classic horror comedy for many years, and Warner Bros. recently confirmed that Beetlejuice 2 had been given the greenlight. Now, the movie has set a Sep. 6, 2024 release date.
According to Deadline, Burton is officially on board to helm, with Michael Keaton set to return as the titular Bio-Exorcist, and Winona Ryder back to foil his supernatural schemes as Lydia Deetz. Scream and Wednesday star Jenna Ortega will play Lydia's daughter, while Justin Theroux has also joined the cast in an undisclosed role.
The original also starred Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis as Adam and Barbara Maitland, but they are not expected to reprise their roles.
Wednesday creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are currently working on the script.
While some will no doubt be overjoyed at the prospect of the whole gang getting back together for another Bettlejuice movie, some feel too much time has passed and they should let this particular Ghost with the Most rest in peace.
